The guy is a great recruiter and great in this region...has so many connections it is rediculous...I will def be a closet Tech fan while he is there...
BCG would have been a good fit at OU if not for the personal baggage, and more importantly the NCAA investigation. His tough, hardnosed defensive coaching style is as close to Kelvin Sampson as anyone I can think of. It's easy to see why OU had no choice but to reject any thought of taking a chance on him.
Our next hire has to be someone who is above reproach personally and professionally. Someone like Buzz Williams!
He reminds me of the character Shooter, from Hoosiers. He knows hoops you just to pray he shows up sober to the games.
This is a dumb comment.
BCG may have had a few DUI's, but he's never shown up to a game drunk as far as anybody knows. He's a long way from Shooter.
I'm with the other poster, everybody deserves a 2nd chance.
I hope he succeeds and somebody in a different conference hires him away because I think he's going to be a thorn in our side for a long time.
Since there have been 3 alcohol related incidents with him at three different jobs (yes, I know he was no longer UK's coach when the last one happened, but he was boozing it up heavily at UK), wouldn't this be his 4th chance?
And I am not saying he didn't deserve another job and that Tech was foolish for hiring him, as I think it is an excellent fit for them.
I will also add, he's still nowhere close to Shooter on Hoosiers.
Very true, no way he coaches the picket fence as well as Shooter.
And if you took my first comment literally you're a little slow today.
I swear that BCG's has some of you on his payroll.
