Blair vs Grooms

The fact is I don't know what Grooms will be able to do next year at the big 12 level. Another fact is neither do you. My only point is that I believe it is preposterous for you or anyone to come on here and act like it is a foregone conclusion that Grooms will supplant Blair next year. It's not.

This is what I tried to say in a less eloquent manner in another thread, its not that it couldn't happen, its just the "assuredness" [my own word] in what is speculation at best. Getting Grooms was great either way because there is now competition at that spot and Newell is free to do other things.

I love it when posters post something that is 100% opinion, yet they word it as fact.

Unless you know the staff, you have no idea if your statement above is correct or not.

There were "better" pg options available to look at if the staff was looking for a definite starter. People thought Chris Walker and Omar Leary would be much better than they were too.

I guess it isn't a fact but I can assure you he was brought in with the hopes of starting. As I stated the best player will play.

I wonder if they won't play them together. I actually thought while watching Blair last year that he was maybe more of a 2 having to play the one than a true point guard. I'm not sure we even had a true point guard on the roster last year. Maybe Capel and Kruger thought the same thing. I think Blair may have more upside as a guy that can do a little of both. I think this team needs to push the ball every chance they get for some easy baskets. They aren't good enough to set up and score over a set defense every trip down court. Play them both together some, whoever gets the outlet pushes it up and tries to get in the lane and create something good. How bout that for a plan? LOL

A 2 who can't shoot?

A 2 who can't shoot?

It's a new position, the "non-shooting" guard who is a great defender on the other teams "for real" shooting guard....oh, wait, we were talking about Blair. My bad!

Well, crap. All along I was thinking ugly cheerleaders was our biggest deficiency.

Well if being a great shooter is all there is to being a 2 on this team, we don't have ANY 2s at all. He's not a great shooter, but he shoots about as well as anybody else we have. And I think a good 2 guard can get by being an adequate shooter and a real good scorer. That's kinda what I was getting at. I don't think he's great at anything, but I sure don't think he's a true 1!!!!!
