Grooms was the #3 rated JUCO PG last year, wasn't he? That shows recruiting these JUCO guys is a crapshoot. Are there guys out there better than Grooms and Blair? Maybe, but at this point it would have to a diamond in the rough type of guy. And it'll be hard to convince a JUCO point guard to come when there are 2 returning senior PG's already on the roster.
grooms leads the big 12 in ast and ast/to ratio .... and plays good D .. he is NOT the problem on this team
With the way this team is built, I agree his is not the main problem. However, his skill set is not very complimentary to our lack of depth. This probably wouldn't be as much of a hinderance if Newell was still around.
Put a few more scorers around Grooms, think the perception changes.

I don't think last night's loss should be put solely on the shoulders of Blair/Grooms. They had some turnovers and lapses in judgement, but their mistakes were no worse than some of the bonehead plays made by Osby, Clark, Fitz, et al.
We were still in the game until Osby inbounded the ball to the texas player, an error that ultimately gave the whorns a 6-point lead – and gift-wrapped a win for them.
Those are the kind of mental errors we've been making late in games all season. We won't start winning consistently until that stops.
IMO, that was the most costly mistake of the night. If that doesn't happen, we are down 4 when we pass the ball to Pledger in the corner, instead of 6. Because we were down 6, it was obvious who was going to take the shot for us (Pledger) so Texas was ready to defend it. Had we been down 4, we had several options to make it a 2 point game and hope for a turnover or something.
