It is still early but Grooms in foul trouble is causing Blair to have way way too many minutes. He's had 3 turnovers already...god help us. It's not even half time. **Venting** I feel better :fexas-logo:

He does make some glaring mistakes. Although we did win the 1st half with him playing the last 15 minutes and we lost the 2nd half by double-digits again with Grooms playing 19 minutes.

Blair did not play that well, but I bet Grooms plus/minus was pretty bad.

Kruger needs to add a PG. There has got to be a PG out there that we could bring in that could beat out 1 or both of them.

Grooms might not be that bad next year with the addition of extra scorers coming off the bench...but this teams losses fall on the fact that you can't win many ball games with only 4 guys who can put the ball in the hoop.

Grooms was the #3 rated JUCO PG last year, wasn't he? That shows recruiting these JUCO guys is a crapshoot. Are there guys out there better than Grooms and Blair? Maybe, but at this point it would have to a diamond in the rough type of guy. And it'll be hard to convince a JUCO point guard to come when there are 2 returning senior PG's already on the roster.

grooms leads the big 12 in ast and ast/to ratio .... and plays good D .. he is NOT the problem on this team

Put Pierre Jackson on this OU team and I think they win close to 5 more games. Grooms is a solid basketball player, but I would prefer if he was coming off the bench.

With the way this team is built, I agree his is not the main problem. However, his skill set is not very complimentary to our lack of depth. This probably wouldn't be as much of a hinderance if Newell was still around.

Put a few more scorers around Grooms, think the perception changes.

Right now, he reminds me of a poor man's Gottlieb, except Gottlieb obviously had better finishers on the wings than Grooms does.

It would be great if one of the freshman could start at the point next year. I don't think either is a natural point so Sam probably holds down the job. I see no way that Carl Blair is in the rotation next year. He is turns the ball over way too much.

He had 2 really bad turnovers late in the game last night. Has happened before too. Hopefully he will work on his scoring and be better in the 2nd half next year.

I don't think last night's loss should be put solely on the shoulders of Blair/Grooms. They had some turnovers and lapses in judgement, but their mistakes were no worse than some of the bonehead plays made by Osby, Clark, Fitz, et al.

We were still in the game until Osby inbounded the ball to the texas player, an error that ultimately gave the whorns a 6-point lead – and gift-wrapped a win for them.

Those are the kind of mental errors we've been making late in games all season. We won't start winning consistently until that stops.

IMO, that was the most costly mistake of the night. If that doesn't happen, we are down 4 when we pass the ball to Pledger in the corner, instead of 6. Because we were down 6, it was obvious who was going to take the shot for us (Pledger) so Texas was ready to defend it. Had we been down 4, we had several options to make it a 2 point game and hope for a turnover or something.

OU had two turn overs like that in the game. Just stupid plays that should not have happened. I think the other was near the end of the first half.

Turnovers, many of them unforced, have killed us the entire season. I don't know when I have seen a more careless team in protecting the ball down the stretch. Five players had 3 TOs each in last night's game. It's difficult to win close games when your best players don't value the ball.
