Putting on absolute show right now.

Re: Blake has 29 tonight

So good to have the Blakeshow back for all of us to enjoy. Those that got to see him up close and personal at the LNC really got to witness a true star of the sport.

#1 trending topic on Twitter...surprise surprise.

Re: Blake has 29 tonight

30 points, 6 boards, 7 assists, 3 steals and so so so many highlights.

This is probably premature but I believe Blake is going to be the best big man to ever play the game.

If he keeps improving and wins some rings over the next 5 years, then its possible he can be thrown into the debate, but do you realize the amount of amazing post players that have played in the NBA?

I would nearly think it would be impossible for him to become the best big man ever just with the sheer amount of great centers in Russell, Chamberlain, Abdul Jabbar, Olajuwon, etc.

Even at the power forward position he needs to pass guys like Barkley, Malone, Duncan and now even Dirk.

Its a tall task to take one year of results and assume that he will suddenly surpass all the greats before him.

There are so many unknown variables, especially with his health. Right now the majority of his success comes from his raw athletic ability and motor. His jumper still isn't there yet and while he has the occasional spin move or up and under, he doesn't have a polished post game.

One injury and he could suddenly be stripped of some of that athleticism that makes him the best young PF in the game (see Antonio McDyess). As of right now, he doesn't have enough of a skill set to be a dominant player without his jaw dropping athletic ability. Which worries me, because he's almost like a NFL running back with the way he plays and that could mean a shorter time for him in his peak then say a Tim Duncan or Dirk.

I'll say in his favor, of becoming an all time great, he does have the drive and the level head to pull it off and not fall off like say a Shawn Kemp. Plus if Chris Paul's knee holds up, he has a point guard that will get the absolute most out of him for the next 5-8 years.

I just think that it takes some heavily crimson tinted glasses to boldly proclaim Blake the best ever. He's got the raw talent to potentially have his name thrown into the ring, but potential can be an ugly word.

Sidebar on the CP3 thing
I'm half expecting DeAndre Jordan to make an All Star game or two in the future because of the Chris Paul effect (don't laugh, the center position in the West is weak and Jordan has the potential to be a high level shot blocker and will also get 4-6 free points a night from CP3 lobs).

blake needs to massively improve on D to be even in the discussion of nba greats ..

Blake could be the best PF in the history of the game. He won't be as good as Wilton and Kareem were at center probably.

The announcers couldn't stop talking about Blake last night. What a performance!!!

They play defense in the NBA?

I always get a kick out of these posts.

They play unbelievable defense in the NBA.
Shooting percentage is higher in the NBA than in college because the players are about 10 times better. Not because they're not defending them.

This is so true. It's really hard to fathom how well most NBA players can handle & shoot the ball.

This. Especially in the 4th quarter and in the playoffs. The type of energy it takes to lockdown NBA talent for 4 quarters is incredible. The NBA gets knocked for not playing defense, but only the elite teams with youth are the teams scoring over 100 constantly. In the NFL, you don't hear people saying that they don't play pass defense and there are routinely 8 guys that throw for over 400 yards in a given week. When you reach that level of athleticism, it is virtually impossible to imagine how tough it is to get open.

Living in Vegas I got every LAC game. Last year, in the preseason, all they could talk about was Blake. The announcers would have coaches and players sit with them during the game and all they could talk about was this stuff he was doing in practice and they were amazed. Now when other NBA players and coaches are left with their mouths open you know something is going on. I remember halfway through his first game they were talking about the dunk contest and Hubie Brown said that Blake was already in it he was just doing it against the Trail Blazers. I haven't seen him play but there seems to be an electricity in the place when he's out there. I remember going to Kings games when Dr. J. would come to town. Same sort of buzz. What are we going to see next? Just think when he learns the game. Right now he has the ability to take the game over seemingly at will. I'll be interested to see how he handles the rough patches(I thought he was great when punkazz Barnes shoved him). How did you like that McHale like up and under he did with the dunk? The name I always heard with him was Karl Malone. If he turns out close to that I'll be happy.

DJ's game will only get better. He's another one that gets along by jumper higher and quicker than everyone else. Once he learns more of a post game with guards that can get him the ball in the right position he'll be a beast. When you can run and jimp like him you can usually get a few points just because .

One of the biggest disadvantages for playing defense in the NBA is the RANGE that the shooters have. There is so much more space to guard than in college.

Just so everyone knows, I fully understand how big my statement was. I just truly believe it. Perhaps it doesn't happen but I really think Blake is going to be mentioned with all the greats when he is done.
