Could you compare Stoops 1999 year with Lon's 2013-14 year? Stoops led in every game, but had not learned how or didn't have enough horses to finish. This team just doesn't have enough depth or experience to finish all of these games. Today was a great step in this team's maturation.

With more games in hoops, maybe the boys can continue to hang on when they start fast!

Much of it is just when coach rests Spangler or if Spangler picks up fouls. It is really amazing how well we have done with such a height-challenged and thin-benched team. I figure if we don't blow the lead in the first half we're going to blow it at some point anyway. We just don't have a team that can rest key players and maintain the same ability.

The bigger news is that we don't let it bother us and we don't give up. There's our consistency.

To me the problem is this is just not a good defensive team. Great win today but also lucky Iowa St. shot so bad from 3. This team can not help shutting off the drive. Instead sliding over and forcing a pass they just slap at the ball and hope for blocked shot. Iowa St. drove almost at will. OU scores so well it keeps them in the game and today they got a few stops and some timely misses like the follow up dunk with about a minute to play. If this team could play even decent defense they would be top 20 maybe top 15. But I like Kruger and if they keep getting better defensively they make the dance.

Frankly, I think we dance even with our defense as it is. I think our D will determine whether we make a run in the conference and NCAA tournament.

I don't think its a slam dunk this team makes it just because of the talent of the league. Hard to win on the road, have a bad loss or two like TCU and Tech last year and they finish below .500 and not sure they make it. I'm not saying I want that to happen or necessarily think it will but this team doesn't have a large margin for error with its post play and limited defense.

Like I said if they get better at defense this is a really really good team. I also think Kruger will accomplish that based on his track record.

Our depth needs to develop better to avoid the soft spells. Today we got 36 minutes, 5 rebounds and 10 points off the bench. All of the starters played 30+ minutes. Lon has had to go to a short bench in most of the tough games.

Booker is coming along well, and Neal has his games but we need a more consistent Neal and more from Hornbeak and Bennett.
