blue horseshoe loves bruce pearl

You assume that BCG is a liar, when he says that he is sober, so I am going to assume that you are a liar when you say you don't drive drunk.

It is weird that you would go after BCG so hard, when are also a drunk driver.

your amazing sir, I wish I could be you.

you're amazing sir, I wish I could be you.

All I ask for is intellectual honesty. If you want to say that BCG is not worth the risk, because he might fall off the wagon, then that's fine. But it is ridiculous to say that a man that has given up alcohol, is going to get in a car next week and kill someone. If you can't see the difference between those two statements, then you are a lost cause.

P.S. A lot of people want to be me. I give lessons, if you are interested.

I'm in favor of hiring the best guy available. Right now that is Pearl. He's a known winner. We can't afford another five year experiment.

The problem is not our problems with the NCAA, it is Bruce Pearl's problems. He is going to get a show cause penalty that will last about 5 years. This means he will be an assistant in the pros or a commentator because school's won't be allowed to hire him.

Why do you people even type if you have no clue WTF you're talking about?

1. you have NO CLUE how long it will be, you're just throwing out numbers to scare
2. it's obvious you don't even know what "show cause" means

Let me teach you a lesson your mom obviously missed - if you don't know something then just shut yer piehole.

Don't you DARE say bad stuff about Bruce Pearl within earshot of Coolm!

Coolm,

It is you that don't have a clue. Kelvin got 5 years for a few phone calls. Bruce Pearl made the same phone calls (96 illegal phone calls) that Kelvin made in addition to his BBQ. Lying is the worst crime with the NCAA. I think it is 19 of the last 20 cases like Pearl's, the coach got a show cause penalty.

Since you think we don't know what it is. Here is the definition. In the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), a show-cause penalty is an order saying that a coach involved in major rules violations at a university's athletic program may not be hired by any other NCAA member institutions without permission from the Infractions Committee for a set period of time. If a university seeks to hire such a coach, they must "show cause" as to why they should not be penalized for hiring him. Most schools will not even consider hiring a coach with a show-cause penalty in effect; hence the show-cause order effectively blacklists him from the collegiate coaching ranks for the duration of the penalty. The penalty is intended to follow a coach for violations that he had a role in committing.

The bottom line is that OU could get Tennessee's penalties by hiring Pearl. If you want that for OU then you aren't much of a fan. So maybe it is you that needs to shut his piehole.

Speedy, you're clueless.

1. Kelvin was more than "a few" calls. many more.

2. what made the ncaa angry was Sampsons' attitude toward them during the hearings where he didn't accept responsibility and didnt think what he did was wrong... much the same way that he didn't when later making statements to the press. To this day he says he was "trying to outwork the competition". Then, of course, he did the same fool thing again - hence the 5 year penalty.

3. as for the "show cause" - like I said you're clueless as to what it means. It doesn't keep a college from hiring someone. In fact, the NCAA can't stop a college from making a contract. It makes the institution possibly suffer the punishment imposed on the coach unless you can show them why you shouldnt. In other words - if you're willing to put up with the punishment then the show cause means NOTHING. BP's attitude and infractions are NOTHING like Kelvin's.

Please go back to dropping fries or w/e it is you do.

CoolM,

I hope you are not really a lawyer because you are really clueless. Nor could you probably shine my shoes, doesn't really matter because OU is not going to endure anyone's penalty by hiring Pearl because Joe C. is not as foolish as you are. You quote the Baylor situation, I guess you forget that they got hit and were not allowed to play any non conference games and by the way - all the stuff with murder and lying to the District Attorney had nothing to do with the NCAA. However, Bliss paid tuition for non scholarship players and he lied to Baylor and the NCAA.

Yeah, Sampson made phone calls (550) at OU then went to Indiana and made more except this time he lied to Indiana and the NCAA about the calls. The real key is lying to the NCAA.

Pearl made 96 calls, had his BBQ, lied to the NCAA and begged forgiveness then within 4 days illegally met with another recruit. In fact, he even broke the rules after the AD said his job was jeopardy before the NCAA tournament. If you don't think that is flaunting the rules then you are a fool. Again, the key is lying to the NCAA.

If you haven't figured it out by now, lying to the NCAA is the thing they come down the hardest on. Lying to the NCAA is an NCAA violation. Dez Bryant didn't break a rule but lied investigators and his playing days were over. With coaches, the NCAA is unmerciful.

How many people on this board are will to take the penalty that Baylor got by hiring a show cause coach like Pearl? Do you want the half death penalty - no non conference and no post season and scholarship limitations? By the way CoolM, since you are such a genius, Why don't you tell us just how many schools have hired "show cause" coaches? Can you name one? Please show us some of those legal research skills!!!

"Speedy" (I assume a nickname from your woman),

Sorry that I couldn't shine your shoes properly. The french fry grease was caked on them too thick. Do a little better at your job and they might promote you to the burger line.

I didn't forget anything about the Baylor NCAA hit. In fact, just keep throwing on stuff since you miss the point entirely. Is it causing them to suffer now? That's the point. Just about the worst scenario possible and they survived and are generally thriving now. The NCAA is not a firing squad.

You also miss the point entirely about Kelvin. It was NOT lying that destroyed him with the NCAA - it was the fact he would never admit that making the calls was wrong. To this day he still hasn't. He even acted indignant about it when asked by the NCAA at the hearing. THEN he went off to Indiana and did it again. That's why they cut his nuts. BP, otoh, admitted he was wrong.

I never claimed to be a genius, just obviously smarter than you. Given what I have seen so far that doesn't take too much.

Your point about how many have hired after a show cause requirement WOULD be a good one if you weren't just missing the overall point entirely (by a mile) that many of us are making - Pearl's situation is unique and he's one that is actually worth taking the risk. Maybe we should type slower so you will understand.

CoolM,

Always love when some fool questions manhood, shame we couldn't get together for a big test. It might be fun, just simple proof that we have way too many lawyers running around.

It is funny that you talk about Baylor surviving the penalty - lets see it took five years to get out of the Big 12 basement and they made the NCAA one time since the penalty. You might ask those Baylor folks how they liked that season with no non conference games. So I suppose, you are on the record that you would like to hire Pearl and give up our non conference schedule. The penalties are not bad - lets just do it.

By the way, if breaking another NCAA rule within four days after admitting that you lied isn't making fun of the NCAA then I don't know what is. Incidently, Kelvin didn't get a "show cause" until he was caught lying to the NCAA and Indiana.

For fun sake, I think we ought to make your hire - lets get old Bruce. Personally, I think there is a greater chance that Joe C. rehires Capel than an OU move to bring in Pearl.

Questions manhood? It was a joke "Speedy". You picked the name, not us. We're supposed to throw down now since you can't live with the consequences of your choice? I am sure if you asked the mods they would change it to something fitting - like "clueless in Seattle" or "Gary Busey's bruised cerebellum".

The rest of it? whatever. No matter how many times it is stated and restated you never seem to comprehend a word. Further elaboration is pointless.

If this thread were a bar, it wouldn't need a men's room.
