The top choices, per the source, are still BYU, Louisville, West Virginia, and TCU. However, another school is said to have been contacted, Tulane, out of Conference USA. Not sure about that about one. Apparently the SEC and Big 12 are looked at Tulane as an expansion member for some reason. They detail the thought process in the article.

University of Oklahoma president David Boren told ESPN.com Wednesday he believes it's "50-50" Missouri leaves the Big 12 for the SEC.

"We'll be fine either way," said Boren, reaffirming Oklahoma's position of committing to the Big 12.

Asked about a timetable for adding new members to the Big 12, Boren said it could happen in a "week to 10 days."

"There are three or four good choices out there," he said.

Also of note in this article is that Conference USA is working on a possible merger deal with the remaining Mountain West teams.

I don't remember if it was in this article or another, but Texas is also making concessions regarding high school content on LHN as part of the grant of rights agreement. With those two things combined, the Big XII becomes very attractive to any school looking for a home. I still think that the conference would be better off taking South Florida over TCU.

Agree. Tulane can't happen but it would be fun to travel to florida AND new orleans.

I'd rather have Tulane than TCU.

Louisiana is a recruiting hotbed and it widens the footprint of the Big 12 to expand into Louisiana whereas TCU adds nothing.

I dont get it though. If you can get Louisville, BYU, and West Virginia, why cant you get South Florida? Who in their mind picks Tulane over South Florida? South Florida offers the same thing (new recruiting hotbed, major city, etc) only they have upper-tier facilities and upper-tier programs.

South Florida adds more than TCU and Tulane would combined.

Agreed. TCU hurts more than it helps OU, while the opposite would probably ring true for Tulane.

Adding Tulane to the BigXII-2-1+1 would do absolutely nothing. I live in Louisiana, and while there would be a few new conference trips to New Orleans, the media footprint Tulane has in the area is close to non-existent.

The only benefit of adding them is towards the overall perception of academics in the conference. The school has no commitment towards athletics (their best program is in baseball) and Louisiana as a whole has almost a complete disinterest in whatever Tulane does. And recruiting in the area would be exactly the same as it is today.

Adding them would only embarrass the conference.

im reading byu is out... and the next offer is likely west virginia...
