I've been thinking about who Brady compares best with. This is who I came up with. Thoughts?

So, in a few years we can look forward to an Adam Morrison AND a taller Ryan Spangler starting in the post together. Sweet!

Once again ... bright future.

Just as long as he doesn't grow a nasty stache ha

I'm gonna home off judgement for the moment. Trevor Knight had a really good game once too and then came back down to earth. Let's not put too much pressure on the kid after 1 exhibition game.

We played a solid Kiwi team the other night... that every team in the Big 12 would beat handily.

Let's slow the roll just for a moment. This coming from someone who thinks Manek will be an outstanding four-year player.

Some of the best basketball minds I have rubbed online shoulders with over the years, including several coaches, are regulars on this board. So, I doubt if anyone who has expressed excitement about OU's performance two nights ago is expecting more after only one game than this team can deliver.

As for me, I'm just a basketball nut who can be overly optimistic sometimes, but I'm also a realist. Doesn't mean I'm not capable of recognizing talent when I see it. And, make no mistake, this is a very talented team. This team also has more quality depth (emphasis on the word "quality") than any OU team I have seen in years.

There are still some question marks to be sure. That is always the case when a team relies heavily on perimeter shooting. It's not a question of can they make the shots? The distance from behind the arc won't change. The question is, can they do it against a better team with a defender in their face? The jury is still out on that one to some extent.

All I know for sure is that I like what I have seen so far when it comes to team chemistry and sharing the ball. Everyone who watched that game had to be impressed with how these kids came together to overcome a slow start that led to a 14-2 deficit. If they continue to build on the positives we saw in that game, my somewhat reserved expectations right now could easily go higher. I'll also add that nothing we say or do will put more pressure on these kids than they put on themselves.

Last year's 9th place team, very likely still battling jet lag, beat that solid Kiwi team by 42 points and some of the key contributors in the game were true freshmen. What's not to like?

Would other Big 12 teams beat that team by more than 42 points? Hard to imagine, but I suppose it's possible. Still, no one's getting ahead of themselves that I can see -- except the posters rushing in to unnecessarily warn others not to get ahead of themselves.

You should think of other white players to compare him to. I was think james franchilla.

Please tell me you said that as a joke, soonerjunky.

Brady and James do have a few things in common; they're white and they're both Sooners among the obvious. No offense to James Fraschilla, who is still one of my favorite walk ons ever, there is a huge difference in size as well as talent.

If he plays like Luke Axtell, minus the head games, that would bode well for us.

I was being sarcastic. Everyone wants to compare him to white guys only. He and Morrison dont even play the same position and are inches apart in height.

I love this. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the title of the tread. If Manek pulls off some sweet finger roll in practice we are prohibited by law from comparing him to George Gervin.

meh, I dont care if he is plaid or mauve ... he plays like Luke Axtell did his freshman season at UT and his build reminds me of young Axtell. I am sure race has some issue in my mind somewhere but I dont think it dominates my comparison.

Interesting concept... Let's come up with two players who have identical games but are white and black.

For all of you old timers..... I'm thinking David Little. Not exactly the same. But that quick shot from downtown.
