Brady Manek = Adam Morrison

I agree with Tiny on Trae. Rayford wanted the big name school.

That's the way I heard it too, from more than one source. Fortunately for OU, Trae, his mother and siblings, and in the end his father wanted him to play closer to home.

Manek looks like a fantastic four-year player. He's the kind of guy Lon builds his teams with.

I'm just not anticipating that he'll make a huge impact this season. I do think he will play some solid minutes, though.

actually he was KU bound until his dad decided to put his foot down. glad Trae is here though!

but none of that recruiting info makes Manek an impact guy at this level.

Please tell us more of your insider knowledge...

Oh and I like Brady.

there was absolutely nothing Brady did or didnt do today to dissuade me from still thinking very highly of his potential.

When his shot wasn't falling he was following it and working on boards.

And you could tell he was really making an effort to be in the right spot defensively. Big difference from the last game.

I am still very much on his bandwagon. Trae's too obviously.

How about Manek = Ryan Minor? I know the race thing still, but who cares. If we are trying to compare across race then Skeeter Henry? I like to keep my comparisons, when possible, to OU players.

I'm seeing Rashard Lewis. Slim frame. Nice outside shot. Smooth, but not necessarily explosive athleticism.

Morrison was a great outside shooter, but he was also real jerky jerky in getting to the lane.

I don't know enough about basketball to adequately compare Manek to well-known players but when I saw his pics from summer practices--tall, blonde, skinny, and peach fuzz for a mustache--I thought he looked like a young Larry Bird. I know I am wishful thinking but I am hoping his game develops into a similar likeness of Larry Legend.

How about Kyle Singler? Now before you punch your computer and kick the dog. Burn those memories of his NBA career and look at his college work. What do think about Manek potentially matching Singler like numbers sometime during his career? Not necessarily his style of play, although some attributes could be mentioned I guess. How about more on the production aspects. One side of me could see it and the other side you got Dolittle, Odoms and company getting minutes that might make it unattainable.

Kyle Singler Career stats:148 games 2392 points, 1015 rebounds, 293 assist,
168 steals,107 blocks. Really great career that'd be hard to match for most. (three time John Wooden Finalist and 2011 NCAA tourney MVP) Probably not happening without some Sooner Magic.

Career average 16.2 pt, 6.7 reb, 2.2 ast, 1.1 st, .7 blk 43%fg 36%3pt

This is where I go, "that a solid all around game but Manek could block more shots and shoot better %'s while getting close to the rest by his junior or senior year." Absurd to entertain that just going off early potential but Brady more then held his own on the circuit this summer. Seemed like National recruiting guys from out of this region came away impressed with Manek's play on several occasions. Obviously a long ways to go, He'll continue to grow and develop his game. What little we have seen should lessen the concern of anyone that thought he signed to early and OU should have held out. I saw him a couple years ago in Norman. I thought at the time he would need to swallow a tire to have enough weight to play. I'm more a believer he can play at a high level opposed to he'll struggle to make a impact kinda guy. How those numbers and minutes work out we will find out soon enough. Glad he decided early on that this was home and stuck by it. One things for sure, the future is bright with or without the crimson glasses on.

I wonder what the freshman duo record for threes in a season sets at? Trae may try the solo one himself but Manek makes it a potential potent duo from deep.
