Bubble Watch

Yea and I can imagine if we had a better coach, we’d be solidly in the tourney. Increasing NIL and a better coach, just imagine.
Imagine being able to increase NIL because fans and donors are excited about the program and are lining up to donate money and buy tickets.

What a world that would be.

Anybody that has talked about where a team actually stands in the SEC has referenced back to Lusk's article. So no, it's one kid saying it. And it's not public info, so he doesn't know.
Multiple national reporters and coaches in the conference have referenced our lack of spending compared to the rest of the league.

I would’ve been fine with firing Moser, but I think Denny giving him a year with increased resources is reasonable when the alternative was to pay $6-7 million to buyout the staff.

It’ll be easy to tell, though. If we sign an actual big man, not an Alabama castoff or a walk on from Wofford, we’re actually spending money.
Not really.

We spend more on a big man and spend less on our guards. Did we spend more?

OU has pretty much always struggled to find and develop good big men. We compensated this year by having two good guards (one that has lead a team to a FF), and two athletic wings (Reid and Davis).

We aren't Duke. If you think we're going to have the kind of talent we had 1-4 AND add a top center to the equation, put the crack pipe down.

Just because he said it doesn't make it true.
Then it seems pretty weird he would go out of his way to reference the lack of NIL funds and OU's smaller basketball staff compared to the major programs. If he didn't have money from the donors for Porter's buyout, he could have easily just released a statement that Porter was being retained without having to call it a failure by the administration. There's no reason to publicly confirm the lack of NIL and OU's small staff. Do you think that is going to make the job more attractive to the next coach?

Just because you think otherwise, doesn't make what you're saying true either.

The ou ad said they aren’t committing enough. What else do you need before you admit you are completely wrong on ou’s nil situation?

I guess you believe everything that politicians and reporters say too.

And you have no idea exactly what Denny thinks. He mentioned staffing to. You think adding a 5th assistant and another administrative person is going to change the on-court product? You think another $2-5M of NIL next year is going to significantly change things?

Denny is likely talking about resources to match what a top 15 program has. That isn't even on my radar and might NEVER happen at OU. I'm talking about the resources that we can likely come up with that would let us field a top 20-30 program that gets into the Dance 80-90% of the time. I don't think we're far off from that at all. If Denny thinks he is going to be able to get OU football or Illinois basketball level resources set up for next year, I think he is likely crazy and out of his mind.

How about just matching the mid tier of NIL spending in the SEC? I don’t think that’s a pipe dream.

And news flash, any new coach would want that too.

Not only is it the weakest bubble ever, but only one bid thief in the entire country. Will be so embarrassing if Moser or anyone associated with the program whines if they don’t make it.

Some of these guys are simply going to believe what they believe...regardless of who said what. It's not hard to see we are spending less than most with the naked eye. I guess they think this topic is somehow taking up for Moser?? That's the only conclusion I can come up with. Did we spend more last year for some quality starters (outside the post position)?? Absolutely! But our bench is on the cheap, and when you don't have 2-3 quality, athletic bigs in this league...you are already at a disadvantage. I mean simply look at our games against Florida, Tenn, etc....you can see we aren't there yet at the post position.

Kind of an absurd commentary in today's Lawton Constipation about the "state of basketball" in Oklahoma - mainly because it praises OSU something fierce and it also assumes Porter was going to be fired. OSU had far more blowout losses than we did and had fewer conference wins, not to mention a nine-point loss to OU that pushed their deficit in Bedlam to 39 games. It also implied that OSU has such a great tradition, when it's really not that great.

I also don't think Tulsa is getting in, and I'm also pretty sure that OU won't be sent to OKC if we do get in today.

It’s crazy to me that the new AD saying we’re upping our investment in the program for the first time, essentially, in history, has been so poorly received all because Moser is coming back for one more season.
Why is it crazy?

For starters it’s all lip service until we see if actually happen.

And moser is a failure. There isn’t a way to defend him. Every year has been underwhelming

As a fan, I’m tired of it
