Haha. #Focused

@Andrew__Carter: Buddy Hield: "I'm just locked in right now, I wish we can play today." #Sooners

...

@Andrew__Carter: Oscar Robertson on Hield's draft stock: "I wouldn't have to scout him at all, I'd just pick him." #NBADraft

winning a trophy named after the best all around guard to ever play the game says a lot about Buddy.

I'm sure we've got a couple of Sooner "fans" here who will explain to us why Valentine was more deserving.

EXCERPT:

Hield is the Oscar Robertson Trophy winner, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced Friday at the Final Four.

Hield will receive the award April 11 at the College Basketball Awards at the National Cowboys and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

It’s Hield’s third national player of the year award. He also won The Sporting News and CBS Sports awards.

Michigan State’s Denzel Valentine won The Associated Press award Thursday, edging Hield by three votes.

Hield is the first Sooner to win the Oscar Robertson Trophy since Blake Griffin in 2009.

Also as part of the awards, LSU’s Ben Simmons will receive the Wayman Tisdale Award as the national freshman of the year and former Missouri coach Norm Stewart will receive the Wayman Tisdale Humanitarian Award.

Great news. Congrats to Buddy!

On the Simmons tip, was he really the best freshman this season? He was certainly the most hyped and I know he had his moments, but he actually had some issues down the stretch of the season, getting benched for academic issues and the like, and they didn't even make the tourney.

He averaged 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists. Yes, he was the best freshman.

Sounds like something Trump would say to stir the pot.

Not one OU fan said yesterday that Valentine was MORE deserving. Not. One.

You're right no one used the phrase "more deserving" but they implied it by saying Valentine was every bit deserving as Hield... Which ticked some OU fans off... I mean good grief we're on an OU board. It's crazy to think many of us would be OU Homers. and to top it off some on this board kept to defend why Valentine deserved it over Hield, while citing cherry picked stats. But yes, no one actually said "more deserving" but they defended why he was more deserving which sure seems like the same thing.

When certain posters cite only stats and arguments that support Valentine's candidacy for POY, they don't have to use the words "more deserving." Their meaning is clear.

Thanks, Chaser. And, in reality, everyone, not just OU homers, knows that the AP POY award should have gone to Buddy. Everyone, that is, except two or three very loyal Sooner fans.

(Donald Trump, huh? :ez-laugh:)
