Here are some assorted quotes from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel article. Complete article linked here:

Williams was asked on Tuesday, just prior to MU's departure for Cleveland, in general terms about the current rumors. With a second-round matchup with the Xavier Musketeers just three days away, it obviously wasn't something he's spent a lot of time thinking about.

Nevertheless, he offered a response.

"I don't read that stuff. I know that it's going on," he said. "This is not to dodge any question; I think that I am the most accessible and honest coach that there is, and that's what I want to be about. But I do think that it's unfair for me to make it about me relative to all the work that we have done and that our kids have done. I would rather the attention be on them.

"I think that's the way that it should be. And I don't think there's any right or wrong way to answer a question, but I do think that it's always right to make sure that the players are first. Considering that it was probably perceived that I couldn't coach six weeks ago, nobody ever asked me, 'Can you coach?' So now, somebody on the Internet says I can coach, now everybody wants to say, 'Well, where are you going to coach?'

"I think my track record relative to who I am speaks for itself. That's not to be arrogant; that's just what I believe to be true. Six weeks ago nobody in the world thought that we would be playing in the NCAA Tournament. So I would appreciate -- you're doing your job; I'm doing mine -- that all of the focus be on our guys.

"I'm not reading the Internet. I'm not reading Todd's stuff, I'm not doing Facebook. Not Twittering. I'm just a country kid from a little small town, and I don't think you have to do all that."

For reference purposes, Williams has a six-year rollover contract with MU that pays him in the neighborhood of $1.5 million a season.

I'm just a country kid from a little small town,

I think this is a coded message to Joe C.

"I'm a country kid living in Milwaukee and I'd rather live in Norman"

Correct me if I am wrong, but he never said anything about his future being @ Marquette, nor did he debunk the rumors.

Cmon down, Buzzzzzzzzzz!!

He said that six weeks ago nobody thought he could coach. I don't want someone that we're gonna be questioning his coaching.

He went 3 and 5 in an 8 game stretch.

That stretch included 7 games against teams ranked in the top 17.

This guy is proven to be able to get talent. There is a reason that Marquette is being listed by the top recruits in this area.

I am wondering if he is running for office? Guys this is the next coach at OU after the NCAA tourny

Phil Jackson is overrated! Doubt he could ever be a successful college coach without someone like a Jordan, Bryant or Griffin in the stable.

If so forget him.

Zilch...is it your assertion that OU will not pay an opening salary in the neighborhood of 1.5 for the new coach? Or, are you saying because of negotiation and bidding that his 1.5 would turn into 2 mill to start and that is too much?

If you think 1.5 is too much to start, then aren't we looking at another mid-major prospect...possibly the CU coach? I don't know what he makes.
