C.J. Henry transfers to Southern Nazarene

The short article I found said Henry and two other D1 transfers are coming in. Wonder who else it is?

They should have a pretty nice squad though they might get tired of CJ shooting all the time. That kid has one of the itchiest trigger fingers I've ever seen.

Kid can fill it up though. He'd battle for a starting spot at a lot of D1 programs.

Lower D-1 programs he's a for sure starter but a lot of kids who he'll play in the SAC are pretty salty as well and could easily have played D-1 (or already have). He won't even be the best player on SNU, that honor belongs to Xavier Alexander.

CJ would be a pretty good player at a mid-major but he really isn't much more than a scorer.

I realize that but if you're going to be good at something that's the thing to be good at.
He had the ability to be a big-time scorer at high level D1 schools. Problem was he didn't have the PG or defensive skills to play at that level.
His defense and PG skills would have been more than adequate at lower level D1 programs...yet he still would have had that high level scoring ability.
Kid can fill it up. Southern Nazarene will be a beast.

I assume that he will only be there one year and he's just going there b/c if he transfers to another d1 school, he would not only have to sit out this year but would lose a year of eligibilty. He's smart to go get a lot of playing time and experience and then head back up to D1 after this season.

Henry just needs to stop going to the best programs in basketball where he will be competing for minutes with every newcomer and current player on the roster. I mean 1st Memphis then KU.

I wouldn't be shocked to see him at OU, ORU, or Tulsa the following year. OU could really use the guard experience...especially from a kid that won't take up a scholarship.

Exactly.

That's good, won't have to hear about them anymore, unless I'm watching X in the D league in a couple years

There are a lot of guys who could be a big time scorer at schools if you let them shoot 20 times a game. I haven't seen anything from CJ that suggests he could be a big time scorer at a high-major school. Heck, he couldn't even get on the floor ahead of Morningstar or Reed, who are good players but not great by any stretch.

he can go to any D1 school he wants without losing eligibility, he's a walkon

Because he couldn't handle and defend. That's why Morningstar & Reed play.

Is that right? For some reason I thought if you were on the team and played in games even a walk-on had to sit out. I thought I remember hearing that when KU had a walk-on transfer to Creighton a few years back. I might be wrong.

I think there are different rules for recruited walk ons.

Oh, and if you can't handle you aren't going to be a big time scorer. :)

My boys from OBU will continue to OWN them at SNU......:p

Put your NAIA hood up

Jmizzy I heard the OBU players listen to this before games:
