Well, after much debate all summer about Cade being the #1 player on the team this year, the leading scorer, averaging 15 ppg, etc.. it appears that Cade is Cade, meaning a nice role player.

4-13 from the field, 2-7 from 3, 38 minutes... Standard issue Cade from last year, or so it seems.

Pledger is going to be the guy, followed by Fitz and Clark.

Basically, I agree. It was a pretty typical game for Cade. I guess I disagree with the inference that it was a poor game. I thought he played pretty well. He hustled, defended well, didn't turn the ball over and played unselfishly (I thought his shot selection was OK). Like usual, he wasn't spectacular but played within himself and played winning basketball.

I think he had 12-14 points (or somewhere in that neighborhood). If he finishes a little better on a couple of his inside shots where he was going to the rim and maybe hits one more of his threes, he shoots at his normal percentages and scores close to twenty points. I would sure take 17-20 a game from him.

he had 14 points last time i checked that is really close to 15

haha no kidding. He also did it on an off shooting night.

I'd like to see him not take those off balance threes early during offensive possessions. Instead, I'd rather him drive the basketball and look to find a teammate.

While wearing a plexiglass mask. I don't think I've ever seen anyone have one of their best games wearing one of those masks.

Kevin Love averaged a double-double with his on. Richard Hamilton made a career in his and I even officiated a kid last weekend who dropped 25 in a high school exhibition game with his on.

Cade will be fine, as I said about two weeks ago my ideal shot selection for him is four to five 3's per game (unless he is on one of his streaks) and keeping hist shot total around ten with more trips to the stripe. I want those extra five shots going to Clark, Newell, Pledger, etc.

Cade will never be a scorer, he will "manufacutre" about 15 ppg, but hopefully that will be off no more than 10 shots ppg from the field.

Good lord man, let it go...the guy is out there playing hard for OU with a friggin hockey mask on, just about any OU fan would appreciate that, not bag on the guy for having just an "okay' night in the season opener.

Cade is a solid player, not sure where ANYBODY has said that he is a superstar and yes, when you take everything into account (experience, defense and leadership) and not just numbers he probably is OU's "best" player. Jeez, if the guy hits one more three and he has 17, would that have been enough to change your mind? After one game would you have admitted you were wrong? Doubt it.

Since it has become clear that you are currently not one, let me explain what an OU fan is happy about: Cade looked pretty good and Pledger looked like he has improved. That's two players that can help the TEAM, I want them both to do great, not prove a point. I'm proud of the heart that Cade showed, and proud of the improvement that Pledger has apparently made.

Another gem from ABD. Sticky "Cade Davis sucks" to the top so we don't have to see posts like this all year long.

I'm afraid that is the only solution. Or can we just get a separate "Cade Sucks" board? The irony is that if Cade hits one more three he ends up with 17, which would have been about +7 from his average last season. Think ABD would have said that he was wrong about Cade? Nope.

I can understand the frustration with guys like TMG and Tiny, and even Willie Warren, but what OU fan would continually bash Cade Davis? The guy is a good character guy, plays hard and helps the team night in and night out. Seems like he would get a little more respect for bringing that to the table instead of getting ragged on after the first game (in which he played injured).

LOL @ Abd! This dude is the ultimate instigator. I'm sure he got the reponse he was fishing for.

Yeah, Pledger (who didn't even start) is going to be the guy. Not the Senior, who was the only guy on the floor that knew what he was doing....followed by Fitz who couldnt stay on the floor and a freshman. They will all be ahead of Cade. (sarcasm)

Are you really this jaded or do you just know nothing about basketball?

remind anybody of this guy?

:vitale

Wow what a tool.. Ya pull cades scholly while were at it... He only had 14 points in the first game of the year what is he thinking?? Please admin pin this I want to rub it in the tools face everytime Cade gets 20

I'd like to add a comment or two also, but every time I do, I get drilled for picking on poor old abd. :ez-laugh:

I thought the debate was about whether or not he was a legitimate Big XII starter. Bigabd said no and most said yes.

I think it is a bit early to tell who will do what. Last year, Pledger was great early and then had one of the worst shooting streaks ever. Hopefully that will not happen to him this year.

That is the debate, you are correct.

Lol, and his team had to come from behind in the second half and pull away from Northern State on free throws....

30% from the field, 28% from 3, played nearly every minute of the game.

He is 37% from the field, 33% from 3 on his career.. So, Cade continues to play and shoot like Cade, which is the point I made in this thread. People on here think he can average 15 ppg for a solid team, and I say he isn't that type of player.

Cade starts and he plays for a big12 team so, that debate was won by the people who said yes. Last I looked, OU didn't finish last in the league last year and I never saw abd question the starters for the teams that did finish last. As a matter of fact, he bragged about their starter.

This is what you call taking the debate to another level once you lose. Now he's trying to say Cade is just an average player. But it's funny how we can copy and paste stats of guys who have half the resume of Cade and talk about their potential, but then be flippant about someone who's accomplished more than the bums that are bragged about.
