Can Capel survive this?

I wondered why Tiny only had 3 offers while being a top 10 recruit. Cal, Miss St and OU were his offers on Rivals.

That does raise a big big red flag when you think about it.

Fire Capel! BTW, Tiny had already signed when the alleged payment took place.

Well that makes everything OK.

I think what people are wondering is not when the payment took place versus when he signed. I think the question is why did a top 10 recruit only a have couple ships offered. As in did this guy come across as someone with a "what are you gonna do for ME" attitude.

I guess you can't understand what I wrote. Sorry about that.

And Jeff didn't know anything about Tiny? Are you serious? So who recruited him...Chuck Long??

Clearly.

Who recruited Ad when he was driving around in a Lexus?

Who recruited Bomar/Quinn and got them jobs at Big Red.

Selective nonsense from your end.Glad you know EVERYTHING

If Montgomery and Stansbury offered then I find it hard to believe Capel knew anything these guys didn't. They don't come anymore upstanding.

Comical. Selective nonsense on what? When did I compare football to basketball????

The group as a WHOLE is very questionable. I hope Fitz and Pledge learned a lesson. Not sure Tiny will, or should, get that chance. And who knows what TMG is thinking.

But if you insist...0-4 is a hell of a difference from 3 out of 25 in the Stoops class. And I'd say Stoops acted pretty quick on two of those, while the Lexus from ALL accounts was no issue. But try to defend it anyway you wish if it makes you happy.

Bottom line is this..the OU hoops program is going in the crapper faster than a Taco Bell burrito. Some choose to turn a blind eye and insist it's all just stuff that happens everywhere. I hope Joe C is not one of those. And I hope Jeff will learn that getting the top rated player means squat if they have "me" attitudes.

Mr B! is about to call you a racist. He doesn't like somebody questioning Capel. Good luck.

I know. Probably biting off more than I can chew considering I've already got a KC Strip in my gut. Think I'll snake back and digest this morsel.

Carry on B! You have the floor:dance005:

You're talking about digestion a lot in this thread. ;)

its not a choice? i never anything about a choice. I'm saying you want everyone gone, get ready to see another year as bad or worse than this year.

Are you saying a full reset as in the coach too? Like right now? Or are you saying full reset of the roster with Capel still intact?

Let's say the "Three Amigos" leave and Capel reloads with a bunch of jucos to go with Clark and Taylor and the guys we return. Then we go something like 16-16 next year, the team plays hard and doesn't embarrass themselves off the court, I'd say he'd get one more year after next year. And then if we're out of the NCAAs for three straight years he's gone. I think that will be Joe C's mindset, unless there's more behind the scenes we don't know.

Personally I think he should get one more year, but I wouldn't be too upset if Joe C. made the move now to go in a different direction.

I'm with you, give him one more year.

My thoughts as an outsider:

Capel will get one more year to right the ship. But based on recent occurrences (which are largely due to Capel's seeming inability to evaluate talent or character in his past couple of classes), I don't think righting the ship is possible. Guys don't completely change overnight, so if the players causing problems come back things will be more or less the same. If they don't come back, Capel will be scrambling for leftovers. When you fill that many open spots in one year (and are doing so largely with juco players and leftover recruits), chemistry and/or talent issues are bound to pop up... so nothing really gets fixed.

That will then lead to him being replaced after next season. Essentially he'll be left hanging so the AD has a year to figure out the best direction to go with the program. It could also provide a new coach with a slightly better situation to start off with (not dealing with an empty roster or talented but self-centered players).

Once things get as ugly as they apparently are with OU, I really don't think things can be fixed. Not in today's environment, anyway. There's too much 24/7 coverage of these programs for these things to be forgotten. People aren't patient enough to let a coach work through a few bad years IMO.
