If OU is chasing Buzz can OU wait at least 1 week, maybe even 2 plus negotiation time on the chance he will signup.
AND if he doesn't who else will moving on to other jobs that are available. Then OU will be stuck with like its 4th or 5th choice. Not a good scenario.

Give up on Buzz, sorry. We're paying Capel $2 million to leave, Buzz' buyout would cost a reported $2.5 million and his salary could be $1.7-2.5 million. It isn't going to happen.

Perhaps. But dont underestimate the donors. They may be more tired of losing etc. Than you think Or Capel would still be here.

The longer it takes the better, if you know he's coming. Which sounds like the same mistake Jeff made, waiting on elite recruits. IMO Joe will choose a mid major coach or a high level assistant, yes I said assistant.

The donors can't even stand up and cheer at football games. What makes you think they're goin to pony up the money needed for a basketball team that they don't support to get Buzz?

They ponied up to get rid of Capel, maybe they'll pony up to get his replacement.

I just can't see them fronting that kind of money especially after buying out Capel. They'll front the money to get rid of what they view as a bad investment, but then want to get the next coach on the cheap. I hope they do open up the check book, but i'm just not that optimistic that they will.

Yep. Unfortunately, that's the way I see it too. With everything I've seen and read about Buzz added to what I've seen from Marquette the first 2 rounds, I would really love to see BW coaching us next year. Just don't see it being a realistic possibility anymore. :(

Then the donors must not be very smart. They are willing to drop a bunch of money to get rid of a guy, but are not willing to pay enough to get a better replacement. If this was just about money, they would have waited till next year to fire Capel at a lesser buyout. It does not make economic sense to spend 2 mill to fire a guy and then $750k on his replacement. Anyone that has the money for these donations has better business sense than that. The can identify a self=perpetuating problem, when they see one.

Yes. We can wait for Buzz and we should wait for Buzz.

If he doesn't take it and we are left looking at a bunch of Capel-esque hires, then I say we hire an interim and keep looking. Or, just give it to Terry Evans.
