Capel and recruting ability.

I just really think Capel greatly benefited from right place right time.

Do you think anybody cares about your opinion? I laugh at the Capel bashers. I suppose you go to tea party events too? Ha ha ha. Do something with your life. Spending all your time criticizing just makes you pathetic.

You talk about 2 guys from the 2010 class and one from the 2007 class. I am pretty sure he doesn't just recruit one or two players a class and place all his eggs in that basket. That's hybris to even say, but my thing is why not try for those kids. You want to have bring championships to a team you bring in the best players. Last year there was a lot of lies going on about the program at OU making kids question coming here. Also when you talk about some guy would you please take some time and look it up the name on the internet, its not that hard.

I guess you are fine with one and done games in the tourney that Sampson had. Maybe it's because his name is not Jeff Capel.

I didn't know the season end at the end of December. I thought this was bowl season not tourney time. Do you know where I can get the bracket so I can fill one out?:facepalm You are assuming that this year is lost and we are only 12 games in. It may be a rough year, but the season isn't over. Then you go on to say next year will be a losing season also, wow. I am glad you write off a season before it's even close to starting. Have a little faith in your team. SMH, don't come back and say you do have faith in the team and hope they do well, but it will be hard with lack of coaching because what you say contradicts that and I don't want to hear it.

I am not ever going to jump in boat with you about that OU basketball has reached its highest level it can. I believe that to be so wrong.

Fine. We disagree the level OU basketball can attain. Some Capel supporters use the fact we can't get anybody better than Capel, so give him a chance to get it corrected. I think this is a loser mentality. Do you believe Capel is as good a coach as we can get? Please tell me no.

Jeff Hafer was the MU players name.

I listed the 3 because those are the ones that came to mind. We have had plenty of other near misses. Terrance Jones is another one.

I don't get how somebody can be proud of finishing 2nd place in the battle for a recruit? smh

Merry Christmas Boca. Not sure what the Tea Party has to do with anything. Glad we can have a civilized conversation without resorting to personal attacks.

When you spent all your time criticizing Cade Davis I did not show you the same disrespect since I disagreed with you. Interesting that when you disagree with people you resort to name calling.

We are all Sooner, hope you can stop the personal attacks. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

40 cal remembers. He's proud of it. This is how far we have fallen. Thank you Jeff.

I remember facts and I am correct with what I say.

Yeah Capel missed out on some big recruits last season, but if we didn't have last season happen I don't think he would have missed out.

Here something you need to remember and remember well. Capel got Blake to OU. However he did, he (Capel) was the coach that was here when Blake got here. He also got Willie, which he had his problems, but he also helpped out during the year he played with Blake. Then he was asked to be the leader. Something Blake wasn't asked to do, he had his brother Taylor and Austin to take care of that. Then Capel brought in Tiny and TMG, which they were good recruits and very talented. They weren't mature, had ego issues, and motivation problems. They are young adults and how many of us didn't make mistakes when we were young. Heck you can't get facts right.

On the recruits that didn't come when Sampson left, they were going to leave no matter who got the job here. So the blame can go on no one, but the guy who left.

Now here is what I have to say about Capel. He is a guy who played for Coach K the BEST coach in college right now and maybe in some arguments ever. Capel knows a thing or two about basketball. Can he coach, yes he can. Does he have some things he needs to learn, we all do. He is young in his coaching career. He coaches the players every game. If you notice something even when they are down and the game is out of reach he isn't giving up and neither are the players. Also if he wanted to give up on the program he would have last year and when Clemson came calling. He also is a man of class.

Lastly do you know who he recruited to go play at VCU? Eric Maynor is his name and he is a back up pg for the OKC Thunder. Don't pull this Capel can't get any good recruits. Capel coached and did well at VCU that's why JC got him.

I don't have a loser mindset, I told you I go into every game saying I think we can win it no matter who we play. Unlike you who says you don't go into every game thinking that. I also just have an openmind set and I will never bash my team.

Also you are dang right that I am proud, I am proud of my team and proud of my school. I don't like anybody talking crap on them.

Coach K's coaching tree is not very successful. Is Mike Brey the most succesful coach that was under Coach K? Dawkins at stanford is struggling, quin snyder sucked, tommy amaker was a bust.

Capel is different because he wasn't an assistant under Coach K and he doesn't really use his style I think. But then against I can't point to what style Capel really has ever used consistently.

This.

However as nick said Jeff never coached for coach k. He coached more for his dad who has a very mediocre overall record. I think he's been fired more times than he's left for a better job. I know odu fired him.

I would never be satisfied with a coach who had no shot at winning a national championship.

Norm: I like and respect you but how can you say he had no shot at winning an NC. He got us to the final 4 and we had a chance to win had white not suffered the injury.

I take it you don't like capel either because he has less a chance of winning an NC than Sampson.

If Sampson had stayed and coached reynolds and James along with Taylor and Blake we were looking at an NC.

I was a huge fan of Coach Sampson and I hated to see him leave OU. But how the heck can you say Sampson would have won a NC if Reynolds and James had honored their commitment to OU? That's LOL funny. Just more of your usual hyperbole.

And while we're in fantasy land how about if Rose and Beasley would have signed with OU that year as well. :ez-laugh:

Dude Blake Griffin was NOT coming to OU if Sampson was here. It's even been said Taylor was looking at leaving.

We don't know that. But I'm pretty sure that Kelvin would have put OU on serious probation if he stayed even if we kept the guys in that class. We might have been good the next 2 years or so, But by now we would be worse off because of the hit we would have got in probation.

I'm glad Kelvin's no longer here as big a fan as I am. I'm just not happy with the job Jeff is doing right now. There's really not much to like.

I never believed Sampson was going to win a national championship at OU. He won a lot of games primarily because he was a great defensive coach. He was not a great offensive coach. I could not possibly count how many times as the shot clock was running out, someone would have to fire up an off-balance prayer which amounted to the same as a turnover. I never want to see that again at OU in my lifetime. If you go back and look at the teams that won national championships, you will find that most had some players who eventually played in the NBA. The list of NBA players who played for Kelvin at OU is, let's say, less than impressive as is the number of McDonald's All Americans who played for him. This doesn't even take into consideration that he left 2 programs on probation.

I certainly am disappointed with the situation at OU right now so I am not tooting Capel's horn. I am not saying that he cannot can turn things around as I hope he can but it doesn't look good at this time.

If it comes to the point that Capel must be fired, we need to find someone who is a dynamic recruiter and who can coach. One that doesn't have any baggage.

Everyone seems to forget that in the Final Four year,we beat 2 of the three other teams in the final four during the regular season. He had a great shot at winning it all that year

We killed Maryland the team that won it all that year in the regular season. If Q. White didn't get hurt we win it all that year. No doubt about it, we were the best team that year.

Which kills any arguments of Sampson never having a chance to win a NC

Your glad because OU could beat Kansas with sampson but no chance with capel.

It funny that you say they have no chance because in 2007 they lost by 2 and in 2009 Blake was out that game.

Sampson beat Kansas 6 times in 17 games, that's nothing to brag about.
