Capel and recruting ability.

It funny that you say they have no chance because in 2007 they lost by 2 and in 2009 Blake was out that game.

Sampson beat Kansas 6 times in 17 games, that's nothing to brag about.
It's a lot better than o-fer. The only coach that really came close to dominating KU was Billy Tubbs and KU was not as good as they have been the last 15 years.

And I'm sure that record fares well against any other school in the conference over that same time span.

+1

Capel's problem hasn't been getting elite level talent, it's been keeping the type of guys which are 4 year players in the program. Now, you're probably not going to contend for a NC with the "program builders", but you will still win games. His talent and character evaluation of the intermediate talent has been atrocious. Problem is when you miss out on the elite talent and don't have the intermediate players in place to fall back on, you're left in a huge hole like we are now.

I fully believe Capel will get another year, whether that is deserved or not isn't up to me. We can talk about assistant coaches or player's bad attitudes, but the bottom line is the buck stops with the head coach. That is why you want to be the lead dog.

Also, please stop with the Duke references on coaching...Mike Brey has been the best coach by far from that tree, and he can barely get ND into the tournament (and probably would of been fired last year had they missed again). Snyder, Amaker and Dawkins can't get it done.

We killed Maryland the team that won it all that year in the regular season. If Q. White didn't get hurt we win it all that year. No doubt about it, we were the best team that year.

Sorry to say that Maryland team that won it all in March was playing a lot better then the team we beat in December. Would I have loved to see a rematch ? Sure. But "no doubt about it" and "we were the best team that year" are statements which come from losing teams.

Your glad because OU could beat Kansas with sampson but no chance with capel.

Yeah, because I'm scared of Kelvin Sampson. LOL.
Doesn't matter because Sampson was pretty much banished from coaching college basketball.

Not one single fan KU liked Kelvin sampson because he threatened KUs supremacy in the big 12. Roy finally decided to head for greener pastures because he could see the handwriting on the wall.

Sampson leaving the conference was good for KU. Look at how they have dominated the tournament since KS left.

From 2001 - 2005 KS was 4-3 vs KU with 2 dominating wins in 2002 and 2003 and a conference title in 2005.

Funny thing is, he was guilty of something that wasn't even a violation 10 years ago. He wasn't caught buying clothes or arranging inducements for players like deputy dawg Roy did when he was at KU.

Yawn at more defenses of Sampson's transgressions. The NCAA is all about money. It only cares about rules and image in terms of being able to maintain the moral facade so they can continue making future money. However, Sampson broke a rule consistently, and chose not to stop despite warnings. He left and still broke the rules at IU! If the thing Sampson did was so minuscule, why did he feel the need to continue doing it even though he knew he would get in trouble? I don't get it. He obviously felt it gave him an edge or else he wouldn't have risked his coaching career to keep doing it!

Oh and to say Roy left for UNC because he saw the writing on the wall of the Big 12 is insane. He was from UNC, it's the best college job bar none, and he had just gotten to the NC game and lost by 3. I'm sure it's a tougher challenge to deal with Coach K twice a year than Kelvin Sampson.

I liked Sampson. That is why I became an OU fan. I just turned on him when he lied and cheated and blamed it on others and did it all over again.

Roy finally decided to head for greener pastures because he could see the handwriting on the wall.

I think you are confused. Sampson is the one that headed for greener pastures because he saw the writing on the wall. That's a fact. To suggest otherwise is silly. Nice try though.
Roy went home. I can forgive him for that.
Sampson crapped on the school he built his name at and then bailed on them. Another fact.

.

I really don't think KU fans worried that much about Sampson, he only beat them 6 times. and KU has won 10 regular season Big 12 Championships and 7 Big 12 Tournament Championships. Also Sampson leaving had no impacted on KU, they won during and have won after. KU supremacy was never threatened.

Nobody is beating KU 6 times in a 10-12 year period of time right now.

Funniest thing I have read in a while.

:ez-laugh: I missed that one the first time. That's hilarious.

I think the real truth is once Bill Self got to KU Sampson said "dang, I'm not going to be able to bully his teams like Roy's" and knew he had no chance. :)
