Capel built this team - thanks coach.

Yeah both belong up there too. Ford's still the best passer I've seen at the college level in person. Pretty impressive to lead the nation in assists as a true freshman.

Ultimately every one of those players wore the wrong colored jersey to get my vote over Blake Griffin and it is close enough I can't be called a total homer.

Raef Larents was really good looking freshman. I don't really recall Manning as a freshman but I suspect he was quite good. TJ Ford and some other Texas players have been awfully good at Texas.

Larents?!? Really?

It doesn't matter how Capel left this program, bc Kruger didn't add anyone to it for this season. If he doesn't get more than two 3 star shooting guards and a transfer that may or may not be that good...this team won't be much better next year either.

you are getting quite annoying. leave already

I have always wondered about the mental make-up of someone who posts on another teams board just to spew venom and attempt to make that board about their team.

I have wondered forever why some Sooner fans go to whorn/puke boards, and then wonder why they get blasted.:facepalm

Why not discuss/brag/complain with those who share a similar interest???

The poster who goes by gia stout or something close is a perfect example. He comes here strictly to start feuds with Sooner fans, on a Sooner themed board.:facepalm

He doesn't realize he just adds to the little brother complex so many identify os-who with. His team is struggling and very mediocre, yet he comes here to spew what he believes are funny one liners about OU's struggles.....

I come here to talk about college basketball, and I use the team I follow closely as my frame of reference. When I do post about Mizzou, it's in threads other people have already started.

I don't "spew venom" at OU.

You get your digs in sawyer. More subtle than most, but you get your's in.:)

Knock yourself out!!!! I never said you shouldn't be here, and I never said I don't want you here, I just wondered aloud what the thrill is with posting on another teams board, when I know people like Boca are going to offend me, as it is obvious he offends you.

I would feel like a fool if I went to gosec.com and then got into exchanges with a mizzou fan who calls me a gooner. :facepalm:facepalm

I've had boca blocked for a long time. Sometimes I just feel like arguing...

A subtle dig and spewing venom are worlds apart.

I have yet to find an SEC board on the level of this one. Only two schools really care about basketball. One is a historical blue blood program (read: arrogant fkers). The other THINKS they're a historical blue blood (read: ignorant fkers). I've tried reading hogville a bit, but it's like hanging out at phog. You get dumber with every post you read.

Like i said 3 years ago, the type of problems that happened under the last couple of years under Capel, can set your program back 3-5 years. I have all the faith in Kruger but not with this current set up of players, they play hard but lack certain fundamentals and Basketball IQ to sustain winning. Gonna take time which is hard to wait for.

Fair enough. I agree, and that is why I referenced another poster when making an example about someone spewing venom......

Agree.

OU might have been wise to replace Capel after his first post-Blake season (and said as much on here at the time). With the NCAA issues he had and the type of recruits he was landing at the time (Seriously?), it was easy to see this as a possible result. Letting a coach hang on too long when it's obvious things aren't going to work out is horrible for a program.

I hope it doesn't take 3-5 years but you may be right. We have a few good players, but the problem is they all have big holes in their game except Osby who I now believe is playing out of position.

I agree, I have all the faith in Kruger because he is going to get it done, but getting there is going to be painful at times. We just need to be patient.

You weren't the only one saying that. A few of us were too.

OU is in a bit of a difficult situation right now. Next year should be much better, but losing Pledger, Fitzgerald, Osby and Grooms will hurt. What Kruger does with his 2013 class will determine how far he'll take OU.

Not buying guys. It should not take a coach 3-5 yrs to turn things around at OU. Maybe back in 1988 I would have bought it.

In today's college sports, you have programs who rise from the dumps to Elite levels with one or two prized recruits. With so much talent across the country, and easy access to finding the talent via the internet/scouting services/etc.. a true power like OU should have no trouble infusing talent in one or two yrs.

Heck, Baylor hired Scott Drew and they are staying in the top 15-25. Many will say they are cheating, but until its been proven, they are no more than unfounded accusations.

With LK's pedigree, and from all of the accolades I have read from many on this board, he should be able to turn this program around quickly.

Kruger's pedigree doesn't (as far as I know) include being a stud recruiter. He's not a coach I would expect to sign the types of guys who can turn a program around overnight.

[insert subtle jab about OU being a "true power" here]

It doesn't take a Blake Griffin to turn a program around. The greatest recruiters understand their plan/style of play, and they find players to fit that. Many times they are not considered stars. LK could bring in 2 guards next yr, and 1 or 2 posts the following year, and things should be turned.

Heck, people are already predicting a Dance Invitation based on watching a Wyoming transfer practice, and 2 high school kids who have never played on a college court. That is how quickly it can turn around in today's sports.

LK may not be known as a Calipari type recruiter, but you don't earn the rep he has, without being able to identify and land the type of players you need. How long did it take him to turn his other programs around??
