Listening to him explain what mistakes he made and how he has learned from them and will evolve going forward. Watching how hard he is coaching up his players. Observing how much time and effort he puts into his job. Reviewing his previous track record of success at such an early age.

What sane person on earth is going to throw him under the bus and fire him? What successful person (who has made mistakes themselves and learned from them) is going to let him go for another program to reap the rewards of his learning experiences?

I say no person who has earned success would. If you are having the same conversation in 2 years, they all would.

he has only been a stud at OU 1 year out of 5

The team has a good chance to be better next year. I don't see him being fired this year. He still has a chance to turn things around. He did loose alot of players last year. I think he will surprise people and turn it around.

I'm not sure if that's true. I think a coach who was more worried about his job security would be emphasizing JC players, since they dont' have to sit out a year.
