Capel provides team update >>> Soonersports

Good interview... he sounds very confident in Cameron Clark and Nick Thompson.

I was kinda hoping he would talk about how much better Pledger and Fitz are, but they werent mentioned.

did he say who freaked cade's face?

You could watch it and find out.

That was a great update. It sounds like Nick Thompson has already made his mark on this program.

I'll be honest in that I had no idea what kind of worker Cameron was or was going to be (Folks had always told me how hard TJ Taylor works), but to hear Capel say that about Cam makes me really excited. He has the skill and length to be an all Big 12 caliber player, but it will be hard work and coachability that will get him to that level.

abd,

I also found it odd that Coach didn't mention Fitz or Pledge but then again he was only asked to breakdown the new guys....

I do wish he would have said something about CJ Washington's progress.

I LOVED what Capel had to say about Nick Thompson! I am even more excited to see him play this year, than I was before!

I also liked to see that he was even further impressed with Cam. I liked what he had to say about how Cam is very coachable and how impressed he was with his skill and hard work.

I believe Capel was right that we need to be a good defensive team to have a successful season. If this team works hard, we can get there.

Don't you all think Fitzgerald is the key to your season? Being named a captain is a good sign for him and the Sooners success this year. If he can produce in the paint, it will open up so many things for your backcourt and guys your bigger players who aren't traditional bangers- Washington and Thompson. If Fitzgerald learns to use that big body to his advantage like a Moses at OSU or Damion James at Texas, it will make a huge difference.

Fitzgerald isnt that type of player... Damion James and Marshall Moses are physical guys, Fitz is more finesse. Even at last update, Capel said that OU doesn't have any "back to the bucket" guys but that our bigs can shoot, which is what Fitz showed he could do last year.

I don't care if his offense is finesse, but I hope he becomes a physical defender and rebounder. OU needs him to be both.

I think Fitz is the closet we have to a back to basket type. Not sure how effective he could be, but I think he will have some moments where he can do some post up moves. Mainly I think our bigs (Thompson and Fitz) would greatly benefit from a slasher type that allows them open 15 footers.
