"'I think some of them can. I'm not sure about some of them. We'll see.' — Capel, when asked if his team was capable of putting in the work to turn around the program next season"

OU Basketball Notebook under quotable: http://www.newsok.com/article/3442842

Very interesting quote by Capel in the Oklahoman. IMO he is throwing down a challenge to his potential returning team members. I think the one thing Capel has in common with Stoops is that he is a pretty straight talker. Who do you think he is speaking to? Of course I think he is speaking directly to WW and saying if you're even thinking of coming back you'd better be ready to put more into it than you have this year. However, it also could just be a general warning to everyone that they are going to need to work harder and stay out of trouble (coach speak).

My money is on Jeff making an example and cutting of at least one talented player. It is not the same thing as running off someone that needs to play at a lower level. Inside the program they will know the truth but it may look like someone is turning pro or wanting to transfer.

Here are my predictions for the current players on this roster and their role next year. Some of you may say, "why do I care what this guy thinks", or "this guy ended up being right in all the arguments last year about Ryan Wright, Ray Willis and Orlando Allen" or maybe both. Anyways, here goes.

Tommy Mason-Griffin - comes back with improved decision making but similar production.
Stephen Pledger - comes back and shoots the ball more conistently and gets more PT.
Cade Davis - comes back and is more of a leader to add to his improved overall game.
Andrew Fitzgerald - comes back and plays big minutes all year. Starts most games.
Orlando Allen - comes back and plays a similar role that Ryan Wright played this year.
Kyle Hardrick - comes back bigger and stronger. Plays a few minutes in backup role.

Tiny Gallon - goes to the NBDL
Willie Warren - goes to the NBA, late 1st or early 2nd round draft pick
Ray Willis - transfers to a smaller D-1 school
TJ Franklin - with his two buddies Willie Warren and Ray Willis gone, TJ leaves as well

If Tiny leaves for the NBDL, and a miracle doesnt happen were we get all the great posts left to sign this year, we are going to be worse next year. And if we are worse next year Capel needs to be on the hot seat.
Two years in a row of this crap is not ok, but I for one believe tiny comes back and we are much improved next year

If Orlando Allen, Hardrick, Willis and Franklin all come back next year, we will still have another 4 scholarships wasted on kids who have no chance to help us.

Allen looked worse than Oleg Retzsov when he played against osu. At least Oleg could alter some shots, but Orlando just fouls a lot and looks clueless.

If this team is going to improve, Capel needs to reclaim the following scholarships: Allen, Hardrick, Willis, WW, and Franklin and replace them with better talent and better attitudes.

If this does not happen, next year will be either worse than this year or just as bad and at that point Capel needs to move on. I can't take another season like this.

I see little motivation for Franklin to leave since he is a walk on. He is a good student and is getting a good education at OU. He helps us out in practice and when he gets to be a junior or senior he may get some minutes in some games. Where Willie (if he leaves) is going, TJ really can't follow.

I don't know about you guys, but I am always a big fan of our walk on guys. They practice as hard or harder than our scholarship players and study harder because they know their future is not in basketball. These guys are our true student athletes. Kudos to Kellen, Beau and TJ and whoever else I have overlooked.:clap

Man we have some stupid posters.. For the last time! Franklin is a walk-on, gerber is a walk-on.. I swear everyone is always saying Franklin should get minutes and stuff.. He is a walk-on = not good..

I thought he was a walk-on, but the OP stated his name as somebody who has the potential to leave. Why would he be mentioned if he's a walkon and I was too lazy to look it up.

Also, he logged quite a few minutes in Stillwater, which is a troubling sign about our guard depth. And, finally, somebody on here mentioned once that Gerber was given a scholarship, is that true?

He got like a 31 or 33 on his ACT so.. He doesn't need a basketball schollie

We had an extra to give after the last spring, so Capel gave it to Gerber for this year...happens quite a bit if a coach doesn't use the full 13. Sort of a "thank you" from Capel, Gerber pays out-of-state tuition.

Yes, I think Beau was put on scholarship his senior year. I don't have a problem with that, because kids like Gerber and Franklin help the team by paying their dues in practice and by contributing to our overall GPA.

I thought scholarships were "retro active"? Meaning, if you were awarded a scholarship your final year, then you got money back for the previous years you paid out of pocket.

Seems like I remember a football or basketball walk-on getting awarded a scholarship and they mentioned their parents were happy to get some money back or something. Maybe I misunderstood.
