Capel to Missouri update

Capel also quoted on Daniels' twitter:

To put this Jeff Capel to Missouri stuff to end ... again. Here's a direct quote from him. "I am not going to Missouri. I am very happy for ...Frank, and wish him much success. But I have not talked to him since he was named head coach at Missouri."

I talked to someone last night who called him directly yesterday and Capel laughed at him for believing it.

Me thinks Dean Blevins fires out random and contradicting things all the time, just so he can later claim he was right if it actually ends up happening.

Glad it's not true. I like coach Capel but if he pulled a John Blake and went to a conference rival and started tooting his horn and recruiting against us I would have changed my tune in a hurry.

Jeff's exact words were why in the $%$%^ would I work for someone that I have a better record than

That's funny, chewy. Oh, and I'm pulling for Capel to land on his feet. Hope he gets another head coaching job in college, if that's what he wants. I personally don't think he'd be happy as an assistant after having some success as a Div. 1 head coach.

So let the flaming begin.

You said absolutely nothing that should get you flamed. Heck we have posters who absolutely killed Capel, posting their love and admiration for Pat Knight in another thread.:facepalm

I wonder if he'll start pursuing that dream of becoming a GM in the NBA.

I'm very much aware of those posts (and posters), jmizzy. That's why I expected to get flamed for saying good things about Jeff.

I honestly don't know why you guys stick around if we all suck so much.

well.....quit sucking! then we won't hafta 'splain it.

oh, and no more of those "ex journalism people discuss each others' writing styles for 3 pages" threads either. we need much less of that and more bad sportsmanship and poor grammar.

No need to flame. I think the majority of posters here will agree with you, and that includes me. I was upset with the mess Coach Capel made. But I wish him well no matter where he ends up. I have nothing whatsoever against him personally.

The "flame" comment wasn't aimed at you, Ada. But we all know it isn't popular on this board to compliment Capel as a coach. As a person? Perhaps. But not as a coach.

Anyway, I'm one of those posters who can have an appreciation for all of our former coaches, and at the same time be absolutely thrilled that LK is now our man.

yes, make sure NOT to say you aren't overly excited with LK as the choice or ...

He's getting paid pretty well for the next couple of years to not do anything. I wouldn't be in a big hurry for a year or two. He can sit back, make the rounds at ESPN, visit programs around the country, and when the right job comes open jump on it.

You're right. And especially after I've continually referred to LK as a homerun hire.

I'm trying to figure out where I posted any love and admiration for Pat Knight? Please explain to me and include exact quotes.

I laughed at Kleggs reply that he liked Pat but not his dad so pat must be like his mom. I never said Pat was a great coach, although he and Capel are equal but Pat does have some upside in the fact one of the greatest coaches of all time is only a phone call away. It hasn't helped him much at this point though.

For the record I think both Pat and Jeff are good people just not great coaches.
