Two of his top three scorers have entered the portal in the past 24 hours. Why does this not surprise me?

Last time he was head coach of a team that had a winning record was 2008-09.

not good.

not many of the Coach K heir apparents have done well in their "tryouts" elsewhere.

dawkins (really liked him as a player)
asu coach who's name i forget, PG at Duke everyone seems to love i always thought was a dkhead.
wojo: fast start at Marquette but middling last two seasons.

second edit: quinn snyder is kind of a badass these days after all the blow parties and player gf's at Mizzou.

Yeah who would have guessed 15 years ago that Quinn would end up being a really good NBA head coach and easily the most accomplished of this group. Not surprisingly, I think multiple guys on this list have discussed by many as coaches they would rather have than Lon. Only if Haith isn’t available, that is. :)

Tommy Amaker and Mike Bray have been good at their current schools.

Amaker was decent at Seton Hall, failed at Michigan and success Harvard can hardly be a stepping stone back to Duke. i will say you are right to bring up Amaker.

Bray has been decent to good at ND. Better than ND fans i know would say....but not anywhere near "K heir apparent".

They are both pushing 60.

Everytime I see Johnny Dawkins name I think of Billy Tubbs when we played Duke in the 85/86 season and he was sick of the pregame hype and had a quote something like "Yeah Dawkins and Amaker are the greatest thing since sliced bread.....blah, blah blah.....let's play the damn game!"

Classic Billy!! Haha!!
