Wasn't sure if anyone caught this final. At least we aren't losing our exhibition games. Apparently, Christian Brothers is a Div II school in Memphis (and the name of a cheap brandy :D )

Ouch! Parody in college basketball is a wonderful thing...or is it? Not if you're a Memphis fan.

Happens every year. The cuse got beat couple years back and went to the final 4

Really, I did not recall that. That is amazing and almost certainly a case of the guys not preparing properly and failing to take their competition seriously. The average walk on at Syracuse is likely a better basketball player than the average D-II player. If you doubt this consider Mankin at OU. He would easily start at most D-II schools.

Cole had a full ride to Davidson... Probably starting there or a very good player.

Stop.

Guard play at the D-II level is above the avg D-I walk on. Fraschilla isn't starting at Angelo State, Tx A&M Commerce, Dallas Baptist or any of those schools.

Fraschilla is not the average walk on. He got special treatment.

Bola Alade was a 5A All State selection in Texas. He is much more typical of the average walk on than Fraschilla. Cole was a walk on at OU one season and he had D-I offers. Mankin is walk-on. Barry Honore was an walk-on. Ripkowski walked on the football team. You are mistaken when you think these guys are not exceptional athletes that had other options for the most part.

Never said they weren't exceptional athletes, you are the one who is stretching the term "average" to fit your stance and cherry picking players (noticed no mention of Franklin, Nowoyorta, Slate or Harper - all walkons in the past couple years)

Not sure how much D-II ball you watch, but go check it out. Think you would be surprised how many of those guys can play D-I, generally the main deterrent is 1.) height 2.) grades. I would argue, the guard play at the best D-II schools is better than at the low major programs.

Perhaps a better statement is some of the walk-ons at major programs are better than the average D-II player. I personally think average is a reasonable statement but it really doesn't matter. I was really getting to the disparity in talent more than anything. The guys at schools like Syracuse are simply bigger, stronger, fast, etc. for the most part and sometimes it is even true with the walk-ons.

I never actually watch D-II sports unless they are playing a D-I team and then it would typically be OU or another Big 12 school.
