My brother posed an interesting question the other day, who will OU miss more, Neal or Clark?

I immedately said Clark, but the way Neal has played this year, it might be more of a toss up than I original thought.

I am still in the Clark camp, but it seems to get closer with every passing game.

I think OU will miss both of them more than we think next year.

I honestly don't think we will miss either.

Yes they are nice to have but I feel that they can/will be replaced next year by better players

I agree with this by seasons end we won't miss them but early on we will miss at least Cam and probably Neal. He carried us early this year when we needed it. His play has fallen in conference play but part of that is because we don't depend on him as much due to the improvement of the other players.

The player that starts next year for Cam won't be a better player.

BUT.....if we re-arrange the offensive load, spread that out to an improved Cousins and Woodard, and hopefully Spangler, get more from Hornbeak early on, and an improved Booker, THAT is more than enough to offset the drop in offense from Clark to, say, Buford.

But there is no way Buford will come in next year and score it as much or as efficiently as Clark has this year.

But I also agree that we won't really miss Clark. This may sound weird given how well he has played, on the whole this year, but I will actually kind of be glad that Clark is gone.

If you make me pick, it's Clark. He's been streaky, but 15 ppg and 5.5 rpg is still pretty good overall. But neither is irreplaceable.

One worth noting here...DJ Bennett and James Fraschilla will be the only 2 seniors next year. It goes without saying that the future of this program is extremely bright!

Agreed, and in the next couple of years when OU is rolling they should start getting looks from 4 and 5 star type recruits.

The hard part about Cam Clark (and he would easily be the answer to the OP's question) is that you just can't count on him. Very inconsistent. He has games that are brilliant and then games that make you scratch your head. He has had more brilliant moments this year but still has disappeared for entire conference games...

All other things being equal, nothing counts like experience. We'll miss both early on.

Spangler will move to the 4 next year and he will be better then Cam. I'll take losing Cam and Neal and gaining 3 post players. The future looks good.

Spangler to the 4?? Who's starting at "5"? Buford will probably start in place of cam next year...

Tyler Neal playing Cam Clark's minutes would not be beneficial for OU.

We'll miss both of them a lot. They could both competently guard the 4 (though neither are good/great at it) and stretch the floor with their shooting. That has been a huge advantage for us and gives our guards a lot of space to work with. So far, Spangler and Bennett haven't been able to be the jump shot threat either of those guys are so unless one of the new players comes in and hits Js or those two improve then the defenses will get to sit their bigs in the paint and make our guards' lives harder.

This. It's amazing to me how undervalued both Clark and Neal are among the posters on this board.

I think that they have both done a good job. We wouldn't be in the spot we currently occupy without them. But, what do you guys mean when you say the they will be missed? Do you mean that this time next year we will be lamenting their absence and wishing the season could have been better as it surely would have been if only Cam and Tyler were still here?

I doubt that will be the case. I'll say the same thing now that I said a year ago. Next years team will be better than this years team.

To put this topic into a different perspective, step back 12 months and ask:

How can we possibly replace Osby, Pledger and Fitz? (Not to mention M’Baye)

I miss those guys too, but that is the nature of college ball.

It's not that I under value them, I just look at the job Lon is doing and the guys we have comin in and back and indont think we will miss them.

This, and we are better this year than we were last year
