It sounded to me like he was saying that the yet-to-be-resolved Gallon issue (not yet resolved, right?) is being used negatively in recruiting. Also that he and the coaches are telling recruits to trust them about it's satisfactory resolution.

That was just my understanding, if that's what you were asking.

I would also bet coaches from other schools are saying Capel won't be in Norman next year. This one is far worse than the Gallon situation because the kid wouldn't get to play for the person who is recruiting him.

I thought same early in the year but now I do believe Fitz and Pledger are good enough to help a team win the league if they keep improving. Fitz has played well at times and Pledger just dropped 38 on the road. Remember they are both soph's. By the time these guys are sr.'s if they keep improving the sky's the limit for the 2. Not many guys get a chance to be 4 yr starters the experience factor is huge.

I could get excited about that lineup. I don't believe fitz or pledger are big 12 starters, at least not good enough to win a league but really good bench players so I'd like to see us get a better 2 and a better rebounder/defensive player at the 4. However, I think that lineup if Osby is all that could be pretty good.

Not on a team that can compete for a Big 12 title, IMO. If his defense and rebounding get better, then yes but he has to improve in both areas. Some of it he is limited by his mobility, but he should be able to block out better.

THey didn't start last year so they won't be 4 year starters. Last year's starting lineup (for the most part) was TMG, WW, Crocker, Gallon and Davis. They did get significant PT and I think some starts. A 3 year starter is also somewhat rare and both should be 3 year starters.

I think you are wrong and unfair to these guys. Starters don't have to be stars. Godbold and Crocker were 4 year starters on pretty solid teams. Plus I think these guys have the potential to be bigtime scorers. They need to improve their defense but that should happen even if they never become great.

If you combine a guy like Fitzgerald with a center like J. Brown you have a nice front court. Brown would be a persence on the boards, finish on breaks and get put backs on the offensive end (plus a little additional scoring). Fitzgerald would be a consistent offensive threat in the front court.

The same thing is true with Pledger. With the right players he can be a starter on a great team assuming he continues to improve.

You are right. I forget that if we had somebody else at the 5 who was a solid rebounder it would make Fitz's rebounding deficiency not look so bad.

I hadn't thought about it that way.

Pledger has come a long way in his defensive development so I know he will get better. I just think Fitz's mobility, or lack thereof, really hinders him on defense and rebounding, but as you said if we had somebody at the 5 who was a presence, it would really make Fitz look much better in both areas.

As I said earlier, Fitz is a very good offensive scorer. As good or better than anybody in the Sampson era at the 4 or 5.

On Osby….Al asked him about being highly recruited and why he didn’t put up better numbers. “He was playing behind good players, but Udoh didn’t put up good numbers at Michigan then at Baylor he was better…..People who have watched OU practice say OU would have 4-6 more wins because of Osby, 41 inch wing span, shoots really well, he is the one guy who can make wow plays besides Clark, he will put him up against best players in league”

2008-09 (Freshman):
- Played in all 36 games for the Bulldogs as a true freshman.
- In first game against Centenary, he logged 19 minutes, scored 4 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and had 1 assist.
- Totaled a career-high 15 points vs. North Alabama. His second-best outing came against Houston with 13 points.
- Averaged 4.1 points and 2.6 boards.
- Scored in double-digits three times
- North Alabama (15), Charlotte (10) and Houston (13).
- Logged his most minutes against Farleigh Dickinson - 23. In that outing, he totaled 9 points on 3-of-7 shooting and grabbed five rebounds.
- In his first SEC game at Arkansas, he scored 2 points and grabbed 4 boards.
- Twice he recorded two blocks - at St. Bonaventure and at home against Ole Miss.
