I want to preface this by saying that i hope capel gets this turned around. I wnk he is a good guy. To me he appears to be a good coach. Iremember back to even his first yr we were always in position to win games against far superior teams. I still think we are gettting fairlly good looks this year. His problem was just imaturity and not being prepared to take full reigns of a major program. I think he has a good shot at being a successful coach later on in his career. He made mistakes in recruiting which has left the cupboard completely bare.
People are quick to forget we were in the elite 8 just a couple years ago. Yes i realize we had blake but still he did a good job getting a very average supporting cast to play above their means.
With that said if we were to move on we need to make a major splash. Get a guy that is a name and get us back on in 2 years max. We need a guy that recruits want to play for bc he can get them to the next level. imo that has to be a guy that has been at the next level. imo opinion it is very hard to recruit to ou especially bc most guys want to play for more ppl than they have at their hs games. i thnk the perfect candidate would be someone that is a little aged and will stay for 4-5 years and make this a good job again. I think larry brown would be a great guy. he will get us playing fundamental hard nosed ball again and he will get us back to where we are compettitive night in and night out making the big tourney. He will be ready to retire for good in about 4 years and we will be a place iwth a good foundation where a young hot-shot coach can come make us a great team

Austin Johnson, playing pro basketball in Europe;
Tony Crocker, playing pro basketball in Europe;
Taylor Griffin, who made an NBA roster;
Willie Warren, Big 12 freshman of the year and currently on an NBA roster;
Juan Pattillo, a big time athlete who could have been newcomer of the year if he didnt redshirt half the season;
Cade Davis, currently OU's best player

Now, I ask, how in the world that could possibly be considered an AVERAGE supporting cast next to the best young player in the world? 4 of those guys play in the NBA, and the others play pro ball for money in Europe. The only average player on that list is Cade.

To me he appears to be a good coach.

Hmmmmm.

4 of those guys are in the nba? im pretty sure its one and he plays about 8 seconds per game and the only reason he got into the league is bc of his one yr with blake. taylor doesnt hardly count as he mght have entered 2 career games

You were probably too young to remember this:

willie had some talent but i mean cmon. what did he do all of last yr. he was asleep during half the games and during half of every game. multiple times ppl would pass him the ball and it would hit him bc he was zoned out. the guy could only score when he decided he was going to before the play. he couldnt score within an offense he hd to go one on one. he couldnt shoot over anybody bc he shot from his knees. Did you watch any games last yr. yeah i didnt thnk so. the guy flat out rode blakes coattails.

Patillo is having a good year individually, although his still turns the ball over a ton and his team has lost something like 11 out of their last 14 games.

It is too bad he didnt go to class because his defense and rebounding would have helped that team last year, if that team was capable of being helped.

I find nothing special about putting guys names next too playing professional overseas...Most players play overseas after college b/c foreign players aren't near as good as college U.S. players.

It was an Average roster. I don't care that Taylor got drafted. Their are 4 guys right now on our current roster who is better than Taylor. Taylor got drafted b/c of who he is related too not b/c of anything else. It was a weak draft and a team said why not take a chance on him...nobody else is going to make the roster. Taylor averaged 9.6ppg and 5.8rpg. Give me a break. A. Johnson avg 8.6ppg. And Crocker is a huge reason why this team couldn't get a winning record last season. He was so inconsistent.

It was an average roster...No ifs...ands...or buts...about it!!!!

you know that WW played sick and hurt the entire season ...

you couldn't be more wrong

Wow...seriously? Just curious as to who those four guys are.

I would take Pledger, Clark, Davis, and Fitz over him. And other than Davis, the other 3 are only Sophs and a frosh. Taylor was a senior.

Do you think if Taylor was on this team, would we have any more wins...I don't think so. Would he be our leading scorer or in the top 3....I dont think so. He was a good leader but if he wasn't dunking it or getting a layup...he wasn't much of a threat for the opposite team.

Taylor was a great guy and leader, but he was a bruiser and rebounder with zero ball skills, and the game is called "basketball" for a reason. He is going to be a doctor though, which is pretty cool.

oh yeah im sorry...WILLIE IS A COMPLETE BEAST. remember that dunk on xavier. wow he is great. i mean hes got to be a rookie of the year candidate. wow he tore it up every time he stepped on the court in norman or anywhere in the big 12. His biggest asset is definitely his superior work ethic and attitude. straight up baller. GOAT
