Comments on disappointing attendance

Joe C lying... I love it.

Dude is not making up ticket sales. What a savage.

He's either lying about ticket sales, or he's misrepresenting who's buying them.
Have you been to a "sold out" football game lately?

you understand that football official capicity is much less than the stadium can fully hold right??

Joe lied through his teeth repeatedly when Top Daug was removed from the scene. It wouldn't be all that stunning for him to be fudging the numbers regarding ticket sales.

I understand that the east side upper deck has been mostly empty for the last 3-4 years. But the AD continues to report "sell outs".

that gets to the definition of a sell out. The athletic department probably sold those seats. People still buy season tickets to get the tickets for the 2-3 games, including texas, that they want. It's why a smaller arena won't happen. When you sell 8-9K tickets you aren't going to go less than that. Our AD has shown he only cares about tickets sold and not butts in seats

About half the East deck is now visitor tickets that are sold

I was a long time season ticket holder both men and women. Live in North Edmond. Have had both men and women since mid90's. What finally drove me to give up men's was the game times. Weeknight conference games always at 8 or 6, never at 7. I can't get to a 6 pm game unless my wife drives her own car downtown to OKC and we meet and drive down. If it's an 8 game which usually means 8:15, don't get home til sometimes almost midnight.
Women's games was all about the quality(or lack thereof). We started going about the time Stacy Dales got here so got to experience the fun of that team and then the Paris twins, including their freshman year when we were undefeated in conference. It's so painful to watch now just couldn't do it anymore. I kept my Sooner Club donation the same amount, total, but don't pay the cost of tickets any more, if I want to go down I just buy a ticket or sometimes use one of my brothers for men, he has two and often doesn't use one.
This probably isn't a very popular opinion but if they had gone ahead with the plan to build the arena in north Norman I might have reupped just because of it being closer and hopefully a better venue. That however is dead

I think part of the student attendance being lower is the smartphone technology addiction. Society is seeing it everywhere. Younger people have become zombies with a phone.

It did look/sound like a good crowd. And it was in the same building as last week. Strange.

I can guarantee the next time we play in norman half the people who witnessed the garbage last night will not be there. This has happened almost every time with Kruger. I remember one year the fans were called out and they rolled out to see ou lose at home to a sorry kstate team. The reality is our fans suck and the team has to capitalize when you get some butts in the seats. Lon hasn’t been able to do that which has contributed to the lack of fans.

Last nights crowd was the best all season and mostly seated in the lower bowl. I've never seen the upper so sparse when the lower is mostly full. That would help most games if it was the new normal even with 4500 people. Unfortunately they were not rewarded down the stretch.

Next time you Google to try to prove your point, check the date of the article and actually read it.
I stand by my assertions.

some info from OU official site

https://www.seats3d.com/ncaa/university_oklahoma/football/?DB_OEM_ID=31000#/map;35__level_3/

the top more than half of sec 226-228 and 233-235 the last 10 rows of sec 19-22 and the bottom half of sec 35

the stadium offical Capacity is now 80,126 down from 83,469 2 years ago

that is the sell out number OU usually has 2k to 5k more than that

I was wondering this exact thing. In all my years of attending games, I remember in my early years the visitors always being in the lower southeast. Then at the FSU game in '10 I noticed a ton of Nole fans together in the south seats on the west side, close to the top. This last year I was at the TCU game sitting in the upper deck on the NE side, and it felt like I was at an away game. Tons of TCU fans up there. Do they move the guests around alot?

Agree 1,000,000%. Pathetic showing by OU, not even keeping it relatively close.

Damn....two minutes before tip. And the Erwin Center is on campus and much easier to get to for students....wow.

No worries for Texas. They’re getting a new arena and it will solve all attendance problems. They will be packed every game regardless of the product on the floor, the team they’re playing, or even if an NBA team came to Austin. New arena will solve it all.
