Cousins has come long way since last season in Lubbock

No doubt about it, Cousins has come a long way since last season. This time last year some posters were questioning the wisdom of giving him a scholarship.

He was promised a chance to play the point and he got it. Give our coaches credit for keeping that promise. But moving him to the two guard spot where he belongs was the right thing to do.

Give Isaiah credit for accepting the move and for working hard on his game to improve his skills in the off season. I never gave up on him last year. But even I'll admit that he has exceeded my expectations this season. The exciting part is that he still has two more years to play and a chance to get even better than he is now.

Anyone that was questioning the wisdom of giving the kid a scholarship was crazy. He was contributing major minutes as a freshman in one of the major conferences. Every kid isn't going to be a star (although Cousins looks like he might). Teams need solid role players and it was obvious that Cousins could do that at a minimum.
