Yes we have collapsed again but we have to remember Capel did not have to play Missouri or Kansas twice in a season like we have this year. No doubt our lack of depth has hurt us in the 2nd half. Kruger will get this ship turned around and we will be in the NCAA Tournament within 2 seasons. Other than the Tech game, we have continued to fight.

Good point. The Big 12 schedule is certainly tougher this year.

We have also been much more competitive this year and played some good teams to close games. Overall, our effort and execution has been better. We lack depth, guard scoring, and consistency on the defensive end. Those are 3 things we should improve next year.

Playing Kansas and Missouri an extra time does add 2 tough games, although A&M, OSU, Texas and Tech are all worse than they've been in years, so that makes for 8 games that are easier.

Iowa State and Baylor are both improved, although they have 3 wins against us, while we beat them 3 times last year, so they could be around .500 if it weren't for OU.

The South is no doubt the weakest it's been in a long time. The 3 North teams are strong, although KState is another team that could miss the NCAA tourney for the first time in a while, like Texas and Texas A&M.

But overall the Big 12 is down. Every team other than ISU, BU and MU are going to win less games than they did last year....unless OU wins 2 more.

Agree. aTm, OSU and Texas are a shadow of what they've been.

It all evens out. While that is true, Baylor and Mizzou are better than normal. ISU is better than they've been in a while. KSU is better than they were pre-Martin.

If you want to look at it that way...Just take away all the extra games away from the North that we've had to play this season and you will come to realize that Kruger would have only 2 wins in the big 12 instead of 3. Not too mention that Capel had 5 big 12 wins last season while Kruger so far has only 3 and Kruger is also adding 2 more big 12 games to play.

And even though we have to play Mizzou and KU twice...lets not forget that Texas ended the season in the top 10 and aTm ended in the top 16 while T.T. and OSU were both way better last year than this season.

Once again, I'm lost in the ozone. Are people on this thread still trying to build a case that Capel is a better coach than Kruger? I didn't know that the Flat Earth Society had an interest in basketball.

Now, in the short term. Doing the wrong things well can produce a better result than doing the right things poorly. it is quite possible that is what this OU Basketball season is about. Kruger has to lay the foundation right now for the things he expects of players.

I have sensed all season that Kruger is asking players to do things on both ends of the floor that they just can not do well. The results could be taking a hit while the players improve their processes. In all likelyhood Kruger will just need better players to have the game played they way he wants.

Kruger will certainly insist that this group do the right things the best they can. The long term answer is and always has been, doing the right things well.
