Beat Galena Park North Shore 71-62 in a meeting of the #1 and #2 ranked teams in Texas in the Regionals at the Campbell Center. Nancy Mulkey continues on to her march to state.

Coach John Lucas said Nancy is the most skilled big girl he has seen since Lisa Leslie.

Nancy was 10 of 15 from the field, 2 of 2 from the line, 22 points, 12 boards, 3 blocks, 4 fouls, one assist.

Mulkey will have one year with Peyton, Gioya, Maddie, Gabbi, Vivi, and McKenna (also T'Ona, Gileysa, and LaNesia). She will have two years with all except Gioya, T'Ona, and Peyton.

I sense Final Four appearances in our not too distant future. Who knows - maybe a championship or 2 or 3 or 1000. Ok, maybe that last one's a bit over-confident.

I get the impression that their guards love to score, but when it comes crunch time, Nancy is the only real star on the team.

If she is in the category of a Lisa Leslie, I don't know that I care much for a top ten. Some have said she is a program changer. I can see how that would be. She doesn't have to jump to block shots or get rebounds. She has a nice touch on a shot, can hit free throws and threes, and is almost certain on layups. You would think she would be a rather significant player for any team.

I would love to see how mulkey develops over the years.
You can't teach 6'9. Her and Odimgbe could cause some fits in the paint.

How do the rest of you think that she will react to the more physical play she will encounter entering Big 12 play? Because you KNOW that other, huskier centers/forwards will make it a point to put a body on her every time the ball comes into the paint.

It's good that she is reportedly good from the charity stripe. She very well may see lots of activity from the foul line...

I wish that she was a senior this year (instead of a sophomore?).

Nancy is a junior.

You have a good point about the physical play. She will need to adapt to that in college. But then, they all have to, and most manage it pretty well.

She does seem to shoot free throws very well, so that could limit the willingness to send her to the line too often.

Nancy is a junior.

I believe that you are saying she is a junior in this upcoming year, yes?
If she were a junior this year, then she is only one year from joining our team.

Can't wait to have an intimidator / shot-blocker in the paint! Still have nightmares with the way Griner swatted shots down for Baylor...
