Dante Buford

This came out this morning.

Arlington Country Day senior Dante Buford has trimmed his list and finalized his visit dates. The 6’7” high flying forward says his final three are South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Miami.

Buford, who played summer AAU last season with the Florida Elite program, will visit Miami on October 23, Oklahoma on October 25, and South Carolina on November 1. Buford had to push back his visit dates waiting to get back his test scores, which have now come in and are looking good.

Buford has recently dropped Oklahoma St and Southern California from consideration. Buford’s coach, Lamont Simmons, says the reason for this final three is, “we just didn’t feel those other two were the best fit for him so we dropped them to focus on the three he feels best about.” With the three left Buford knows that he is their man, “we know he’s their number one guy. Each of their styles of play and the way they will use Dante fit what we’re looking for.”

There are 4 scholarships open, right?

We had 5 according to my figuring and adding McNease leaves 4.

What's the ideal number to get in this fall period?

I'd think at least 2? And then 3 more in the Spring?
Or is it better to get 3 now?

Going into the spring period with more than one scholarship open makes me nervous. All too often we have been stuck with a player who was not as good as a recruit we passed on, slow-played or didn't show an interest in in the early period. Ryan Spangler is a good example. Believe me, there are others.

So, for my part, I would like to see no more than one ship still open in the late signing period. If our coaches lock up the best available players in November, that's fine by me.

If you have something of value to add to our discussions, you're welcome here. Your constant digs to get a rise out of OU fans are not.

Change your tactics or I'll do it for you!

I completely agree. The week of an OU v. OSU game I am fine with OSU dishing a little out on an OU board (which would never be tolerated on an OSU board). But why do you have to be a d!ck 24-7. I am virtually positive you would not act that way in real life so why do it on the internet.

Because in real life he is 5'5", weighs 130, and has never seen the inside of a weight room. He has to be tough somewhere.

Now, now. He could be 5'5", weigh 230 and live in his mom's basement
