Denny Announces Moser Staying

I think people need to get over the under-resourced thing.

OU football isn't poor, but we aren't top 4-5 in spending. Yet, we all expect them to be competing for SEC titles and Playoff births.

OU baseball, I saw a stat that we were towards the bottom on the SEC in terms of operating expenses (not sure exactly what all that entails). But Skip has a very good squad, is putting players in the Majors, and a few seasons ago had us in the NC series.

I can't imagine that OU women's hoops is better resourced than the men. Yet, they have a squad to be proud of.

Gymastics. I'd bet they don't spend as much as at least a few other SEC teams. Yet, they have won SEC and National Championships.

OU isn't the richest school in the SEC. We may not be top 5. We aren't going to outspend folks. Our other sports are able to put "acceptable" teams on the field/court/etc without having to outspend and out-resource everybody. Maybe, just maybe, the right coach could win the current resources. That clearly is not true of Moser, but that doesn't mean it's not true of anybody.
When Alabama and Tennessee can field teams in both sports that consistently win. When Florida has championships in both sports. That just sounds like rationalizing why we suck and will always suck. In Alabamas case they are the goat of the last two decades in football and still have a top 10 hoops program. If Oklahoma is truly the poorest state in the south then sure. Maybe so. I suppose thats on Stitt and Oklahomans for not having a better economy so competition doesn’t lap us constantly in funding. Still doesn’t explain why Alabama can do it just fine.

I agree with this: if Alabama can be great in both sports, so can we.

From what I've read online, Bama's NIL isn't great. Better than ours, but probably SEC average. They also struggle to fill their arena when they're not good. What they do have is a great coach. Nate Oats won't be at Bama forever.

It's the Captain, so salt to taste. He has a mixed reputation among OU fans. I don't subscribe and he keeps a lot of things behind the paywall.

Perhaps Roger has something working. We don't know.

We're about to pass Alabama in football.

In basketball, they have a MUCH better coach.

There aren't many schools doing what Bama and Florida have done. But Florida hasn't really done it in football consistently. Right?

Denny has IDEAS. Maybe they pan out, maybe they don't. He said as much in his message. Pleading for fans and donors and the community and vendors/advertisers.

That's called casting a wide net.

True. however Florida has spent a huge amount trying to win, so while their football team is a perennial disappointment the past decade .. they do spend huge amounts of money trying out new coaches.

I oppose putting money in basketball until the admin thinks we are good there. Then, put all the resources we can afford into it. Just guessing we are likely going to wait until the new gym to be able to raise the money necessary to really make a difference

Florida is not as rich as Texas, but they have plenty of money to do whatever they want.
