Our perimeter defense has been horrible at times this year, and unfortunately I can’t see that changing vs DePaul... watching the games it looks like half the team is playing some type of sagging zone, and the other half is playing man to man... this is due to a lack of height, so everyone has to help Mandy out... OU has Played well in the 1st sometimes even building a big lead and we play well in the 3rd quarter, but normally get killed in the 2nd quarter and then fatigue come into play in the 4th costing us the game... it’s kind of what you expect from a young team, they just need to put it all together.

I think we get soundly beaten.

However, if they ladies try hard, play smart, do their best, learn and make progress, whatever the scores ends up wont matter.

We all know this may be a step too far right now for this young team. Chances are we come away with a numerically bad loss.

Just hold the turnovers to 20 and try to get to 60 percent from the line. Those would be steps in the right direction.

It also would be nice if we had some fire from coaches on the bench.

I’ll be proud of the girls, no matter what.

http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=31000&ATCLID=211783214

Dec. 9 / 2 p.m. / Norman, Okla

SUNDAY'S GAME BASICS - Oklahoma hosts No. 20/17 DePaul on Sunday in its second matchup against a ranked opponent this season. The meeting marks the second straight season OU (3-5) has faced a ranked non-conference opponent inside Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners defeated then No. 16 USF, 79-74, at home last season.

Sunday's matchup will be the third meeting between OU and DePaul in the last 13 months. The Sooners and Blue Demons (6-3) played an overtime thriller last season in Chicago as DePaul topped OU, 111-108. Both teams met in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament with OU falling to the Blue Demons, 90-79.

ON THE AIR - Sunday's game will be televised on the Fox Sports Southwest with Chad McKee (play-by-play), Dan Hughes (analyst) and Jessica Coody (sideline) on the call. The contest will air on the Sooner Radio Network (KOKC 1520 AM in Oklahoma City; KREF 99.3 FM/1400 AM in Norman; TuneIn Radio App) with Brian Brinkley calling the action.

TICKETS - Tickets are available for $8 at the OU Athletics Ticket Office (800-456-4668) and online here. Lloyd Noble Center's north and east ticket windows will open at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. OU students will be admitted free with a valid school I.D.

I'm sure SC and Colton with a few days of using their coaching expertise the OU women will be ready to go...Will the game be in color?

53-30 DePaul at the end of the first half. The good news FT shooting is 13-13, 100%, the bad news is the Blue Demons are shooting 55% and OU is 27% from the field.

I question whether we are athletic enough to compete with good teams. This doesn’t look promising. This year or next year or the year after.

Who are you??? Are you willfully blind? When has their expertise ever gotten them ready to play competitive teams in the past?

They are just better than we are and they don't miss.

Let's take the free throw improvement as a solid plus and surprise.

if this team had a true 5 we'd be doing a lot better.

Sherri needs to go the Juco route immediately. Find the best 5 not already signed and get them in here.

We also seemed to have tightened up on turnovers, but I haven't checked the stats.

We're just overmatched and that is the bottom line.

Games like this not only make you miss Mulkey, but also shows how her transfer set us back so much... Dungee to a lesser extent, but even her experience could have helped this team..

at this point a tall girl who doesn’t foul or turn the ball over would be useful...

The third quarter is the best 10 minutes of basketball this team has played this year by far. 32 point quarter. It appears Shaina has finally figured out that she can assist in addition to score.

Unbelievable 3rd quarter.

Turnovers down. Free throws great. Tremendous hustle. Best quarter in several years.

This was a tremendous effort.

Solid in all areas.

Very proud of the ladies and coaches.

Worth note that Sherri substituted very little.

87-76 DePaul, there is some hope.

We got 26 free throws, they got 6, Doug Bruno not happy with the refs.

Less than 15 turnovers. 89 percent from the line.

43 percent from the field.

Best game of season.

Best game in nearly two years, IMO.

Smart play too.

DePaul
6-2 Senior
6-1 Junior
5-10 Senior
5-10 Junior
5-8 Senior

We went:

6-0 Sophomore
6-0 Freshman
5-7 Sophomore
5-7 Freshman
5-7 Freshman

And, the kids came back to within six from down 27.

DePaul is a good team, probably the type of team that we will be trying to mimic. We likely won't get the big posts that are available to UConn, Baylor, and S.Carolina. We will play more like Notre Dame and DePaul with athleticism and passing. We executed better today for longer than we have at any time this year. Had one really bad stretch in the second quarter, about as bad as DePaul's when we scored 17 in a row (two offensive foul calls stopped that run). The problem was that DePaul executed better. How many layups did they get?

Key---the dominated the boards. Mandy was as big. But, she wasn''t as physical as the DePaul players. They pushed and grabbed at the ball, making for a lot of free balls. How many of those did they pick up and put back in?

We won the second half. I think we discovered that we could play if we just played within ourselves. We let them get to us early, turnovers on two of the first three possessions. Jessi had a slow start. Madi had a good game although she seemed to lose her balance every time she got the ball in the first half.

When Shaina began looking for someone else, we really did well. I think we showed that we can play with a good team. I doubt that DePaul wants to meet us again this year.

All the above is correct but still not happy because inevitably we lost. now just imagine, DePaul got beat by over 30 points by Connecticut. Just how competitive is our game with Connecticut realistically going to be?! I'm just ready for Big 12 Play because I don't feel like our games are going to be as ugly at that point. I really I am happy with the freshman doing as well as they have thus far. Really disgusted with how bad Lampkin's free throw shooting is though.... I stay Aspen will probably transfer out due to lack of play.... Just saying.

I legitimately think we can beat Texas this year. Maybe have a shot at most of the teams except for Baylor. What do you all think?
