A poster on OUI says that down in N Texas there is smoke that DH may be looking elsewhere. Anyone know if there is truly fire with that smoke?

Yeah, I just saw that. I’m not familiar with the poster who asked James Hale if there is any truth to the rumor. I don’t disagree with Harmon keeping his options open.... pardon the double negative.

He should be looking around. Not saying he should decommit, but this program doesn't look close to the same as it did when he committed.

Not good, but I understand.

Oklahoma went from the talk of college basketball to a dumpster fire in 90 days. Crazy how fortunes can change.

He was 100% Boomer Sooner just about one week ago in this 12 minute podcast interview.

Yep. I felt better about Harmon’s commitment after I listened to this podcast. There wasn’t a hint of him going in another direction. Hale even asked him about his teammate Jalen Wilson. Harmon appeared to be optimistic about playing at OU with his best friend. Now, this!

When a team goes from a top five ranking to a dumpster fire in a matter of weeks, coaches from other schools take advantage of that by being in a kid’s ear about the negatives. We can only hope the report is not accurate or that Lon and his staff can plug the leak in this sinking ship.

If Harmon decommits, we can kiss his teammate 6’ 8” Jalen Wilson goodbye too.
I have felt all along OU would sign both of these kids, now ranked the low top forties nationally. With Harmon already a solid commit and Wilson growing up in a diehard Sooner family, I actually thought signing them would be pretty much a slam dunk.

If Lon Kruger and his staff blow this opportunity, I’m going to be sick!!!

a recruiting question...

Do you subscribe to the "recruiting over" current players idea? Players knowing that their spot is never secure and the coach is always looking for the "next big fish"...

or

I've recruited you and I'm staying with you for 4 years type?

I'm pretty sure LK is the loyalist...staying with a guy for years (in general)...unless they jump ship.

Granted both can be successful, both can have negatives...

I’m in favor of “recruiting over” a player. As a coach you’re always trying to make your team better. Competition is good, and let the best man win.

I can’t imagine the football team if they stuck with Trevor Knight and we had never had the opportunity to see Baker Mayfield play.

I have no problem letting kids know that they aren't likely to see significant playing time at OU. But I'm not okay with forcing them out the door if they are doing things the right way off the court. If they're happy at OU and are good citizens and teammates, then their scholarship should be honored. It's on the coaches do a better job of evaluating talent if you end up with too many kids like that.

There is a difference between letting a kid know he may not play while at OU, and telling them to kick rocks...

I agree, I apologize that wasn't the point I tried to get across. Some coaches seem to be every year type guys...mostly the 1 and done schools but I do think there is a mind-set as well. I know scholarships are yearly so most guys should know it's going to be a competition every year.

Like this Trice kid. Top 5 PF (what rivals have) and some were worried we "don't need" another 6'7 PF...I say if he's that good then we take him, if he wants...minus getting a PG.

Always recruit the best players you can get. Although I doubt LK ever goes after a one and done again.

When my oldest went to school, the coach had the team and any parents in town over for a welcome to the program dinner. It was of course all of the freshman parents and then a few of the older players parents plus all players. Everyone was introduced. Then the coach gave a talk. Her first comments were how talented the newcomers were and they would compete for spots (the team finished third in the country the year before). The second comment was and next year we have new recruits who we hope will be better than these freshman.
So yes always recruit the best!

FYI 4 recruits, two started as freshman one quit a week later and the fourth was on the bench until her senior year. One of the starters quit after her soph year despite playing every point for two years.
