Devion Harmon to the Portal

Man, it was one thing when we were all making fun of him for prematurely declaring for the draft. Now, he’s flirting with every school in the country including our rivals. Who knew this kid was such a ****er?

Eh chill. Hes a kid and has to look out for himself, even if it may not seem sound to us. No need for the personal attacks

Sounds like his dad is the biggest cause of the delusion

No doubt!!!! That's immediately what I thought when I posted a page or two ago:

Dad seems desperate. Looks like he's placed all his future chips on his son getting to the NBA. Not sure how much the kid can even enjoy the college experience with dad's pressure obviously on him.....

Agreed. So maybe we need to give Devion a little grace. If your parents are pushing you hard enough, it's hard to stick to your guns, even if you're 20 years old.

I tend to agree but he’s wanted that UK offer. This was just a good time to go.

I say this with all due respect, Harmon will never play a second in an NBA game and it's completely absurd how this is being handled by he and his family.

There are probably 20 guards in the portal at this second that can produce very comparably to him next season.

I agree with this. While I liked Harmon's year this year it seemed he thrived off the ball. To me every time he tried to run point or be a penetrator and distributor he seemed to get himself into trouble alot and have nowhere to go. His dribbling and flow seemed to be choppy for a point guard and he seemed to not have as good of a PG feel as others. Again, off the ball I think he did improve and his mid range and 3 pt game were really good at times. He also was good defensively in some games. But he doesn't have the ideal stature for a two guard, and I think if he wants to flip show him the door. A big part of Moser's MO seems to be team first and regardless of whose fault it is(his or a parent) it's a headache Moser probably doesn't need right now. As Kruger himself used to say, get someone who wants to be here..

Yep and he definitely told Harmon he wasn’t going back to ou. It’s obvious that Harmon liked what he heard from Moser and said let’s do it! But his dad wants money so sorry DeVion it’s time to get down to bidness.

I say wish them all good luck if you want and forget about them.

Harmon improved a ton between his freshman and sophomore year and I think has more to grow.

But with the coaching change, I think he's better off moving on if he wants and let the new staff do their thing with who want to be here.

Same with Brady, i say wish the kid good luck and move past it.

I for one think Harmon was a heck of a player and is being way underrated by a lot of you. He averaged 12+ a game as a sophomore and was starting to develop some really nice offensive moves. I fully expected him to make another jump and avg 15-17 ppg. I seriously disagree that there are 20+ guards in the transfer portal that can outplay him.. All of that said I'm devastated to see him go. Loved him as a player. Wish him nothing but the best though and thank him for the contributions he made these previous 2 years for OU basketball.

I'm with you. It's a big loss and I'm still holding out hope that after seeing what's out there, he decides to return (I'm not counting on it, just hoping for it).

Some seem fine with OU taking a big dip for a couple of seasons. Not me. We had a talented team the day Coach Kruger announced his retirement, and I want to see competitive (at a minimum) basketball next season, not two or three years down the road. That's why I feel a sense of urgency now -- the better players in the portal are being signed and we need to get our share sooner than later.

I mostly see people acknowledging he will be a big loss, and how much we could use him next season. What those people seem to be angry about is the way he has handled the situation, which looks to be all about his father if the reports are correct. Most also doubt his current ability to play in the NBA. I haven't seen many people dismissing his potential value to next year's team.....

I agree, I'm upset Harmon is leaving. If not for the NBA, then I don't understand why he's leaving, he was such an advocate for our program out of college, trying to convince other coveted recruits to commit. He improved a great deal from year 1 to year 2 and I expected him to be the star next season for us. I guess he left on account of Kruger retiring, so I wonder where he ends up. I certainly hope he doesn't end up at OSU, which I've read he's been in talks with, along with Kentucky.

Manek leaving isn't as upsetting for me, he was such a head case, and I believe the Groves brothers will more than replace him. Thanks for 4 years he did give us though.

I wonder who else Moser will bring in? At this point our roster still has several open spots :(

If he transfers to OSU or Texas, he does not want to get a breakaway opportunity with Elijah Harkless chasing him down.

I think he ends up at Texas, but that’s just a hunch of mine right now. Like I’ve previously stated, they are Texa$$$$$$ under Beard
