Did OU miss on Shaq Morris

I don't think OU missed on him...he's a good player but he is undersized for how he plays. OU should user their last scholly on a pure shooting guard who can flat out score.

OU will struggle to score next year otherwise.

Much like Kelvin did, Kruger recruits to his system. Specifically, he's looking for high character/good attitude kids (not implying Shaq is not...) who are willing to play hard. He likes his bigs big like Spangler and Hamilton OR versatile so they can stretch the floor like M'Baye and Osby.

When you're talking about top tier players like Julius Randle, for instance, you take him as a flyer whether he fits or not. But with a guy like Shaq, if he doesn't fit, he doesn't fit.

Misleading example when you use the term "5 stars" which doesn't have anything to do with the NBA.

I know! I think Cole will be a big role guy that can do a little of everything. Reb, couple shots, hustle plays. Not going to be a star at all.

Good bigs are hard to come by. There is only two ways to get one. You either recruit them or grow them.

I give Kruger alot of credit for growing Osby into the player that he is. Bennett and Cole are a couple more that he will try nurture into usefull parts of a good team. I wouldn't bet against him.

Undersized center is what the concensus seems to be here. But there are a lot of undersized centers who are pretty good college players. Several at OU I can think of - Ernie Davis, Choo Kennedy, Johnnie Gilbert - even Byron Houston at OSU. Just think a 4-year kid with his jumping ability and girth would be worth a shot. WSU will be an easy place to track his progress for sure.

Glad to hear - sort of - Woodard was injured because I thought he was not nearly as explosive as I had seen in the past. His shot looked flat and his wasn't able to beat his man off the dribble. That said, final play was magnificent.

I'd take cj over shaq Anyday.

I don't mean to disparage Cole, but Morris has a lot higher ceiling than Cole has.

They're more of less the same height (6'6 to 6'7 range), and Morris is a lot better of a natural athlete. You don't see many kids built the way Morris is that can get off the floor so quickly.

Now I understand why OU didn't ever seriously recruit Morris. As late as last June, he still hadn't figured it out. Still wasn't in as good shape as he is now and just didn't play like he should, considering how much potential he possess. Since then, he's bought in and has gotten into shape and plays much much harder. Plus, I think he can have some issues against good 6'10, 6'11 players (Withey, Ridley, etc). Lot less likely to see them in the Missouri Valley than Big 12, so it works out for him.

People are calling him just a 5 on here, and I think that's wrong. He's athletic enough, and has a decent touch on his jumper that with the right coaching could be a 4. If he keeps making the same strides he has over the past 6 months or so, he has a very bright future.

He didn't play hard most of the time that OU watched him. They didn't need an undersized kid who isn't working hard. He does have some ability and if he picks it up he could make us sorry that we didn't offer him.
The Wichita State coach will get him to play or Shaq will want to come home because he is tough on players.
