Could OU be interested in juco guard Dinjiyl Walker who is a a 6-foot-2, 195-pound combo guard at Iowa Western averaging 16.0 ppg and 3.9 rpg, and he shoots 39.5% from three? Iowa Western finished their season 24-8.

He is originally from Vaughan, Ontario, and played high school ball at Academy of the New Church in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. He averaged 14.5 ppg as a freshman at Iowa Western. He has played some point guard in high school and AAU ball, but has played mostly 2-guard at Iowa Western.

It sounds like he is being recruited the hardest by Bradley and Duquesne.

Here's other excerpts on him:

..... doesn't fit neatly into a college position. Walker has played as a point guard throughout his career, but the other half of the combo might suit him better in college. Walker played the point for Iowa Western, shooting 37.1 percent from 3-point range and 75.8 percent from the free-throw line. He had 81 assists to 75 turnovers this season.

I don't know where his info came from but it looks similar to something I saw from Hale

If that was his assist to turnover ratio in JUCO he will get eatin alive in the big 12

I hear ya, but don't get too caught up in that ratio. How many of his passes were TO's becaus ethe guy he passed to wasn't quite good enough to handle it? A pg needs some help from his teammates on some of those kind of stats. At this stage of the game in recruiting, if we could add Walker, I thin khe could give us some good minutes there and looks like his outside shot is just as good or maybe even better than what Beak was this past season. He has decent size too. I want him!

This generally isn't the reason for 50% of those turnovers, most of them are likely just plain jane turnovers.

Assists to turnover ration is a disqualifier? He averaged 2.3 turnovers per game. Cousins average almost that many and he looks like he is good enough to play for us. Looks like they were needing him to score 15 per game to be a good team. If he had several good players to throw it to, his assists would probably go up.

Cousins averaged that in the BIG 12, not a JUCO, that is where my skepticism came in. If he had identical numbers in a big 12 schedule as a back up point guard it would not be a big deal. I am stating that there is a big jump is talent from a JUCO League to the #1 RPI league in D1.

Of course, the Big 12 is a tougher place to play than Juco. Everyone would agree with that. What you said was that his assist to turnover ratio was an indicator that be would be eaten alive in the Big 12. My position is that it is not.

Agree with Gary. The discipline and structure of a juco offense is not the same as that of a D-1 team...turnovers are just part of the gig.

Also, his game is pretty similar to Je'lon's.

DINJIYL WALKER

Is he visiting OU?
If yes, WHEN is he visiting OU?

Anybody know?

Sometime next week, according to Hale. Sounds like we have a very good chance here. Walker was quoted as saying he doesn't want to schedule any othe visits past OU right now, in case he feels its the right fit and would commit.

He also listed Colorado and Florida Atlantic as other possible vists if OU isn't the one. Under the circumstances, I think this kid is a must get. He seems like a player similiar to Beak and could fill in real nicely and compliment the s rest of our guards nicely. FOr him, it would be a great fit...could possibly play 20+ minutes for a D-1 team that could be a top 15 team next year easily!

If we land Walker, and not Allen, are we done? That would put us back where we were before Hornbeak left. I know we were looking at Goodman and a few others, even then, but some of those options are gone at this point. How badly did LK want to add another player?

Is this enough:

Guards:
Woodard, Cousins, Hield, Booker, Walker

Posts:
Buford, Spangler, Lattin, Bennett, McNease

I think we still try to add both.

I was saying IF we missed on Allen. I agree, I think at this point LK would take both those guys. And if we landed Allen, I think LK would try to go after another pg or combo guard. But if we land the guard, getting a guy like Allen seems like more of a bonus, than a necessity. Houston has me worried about Allen, given that he could start there.

Sure, back in the fall, they wanted both Buford and Cunningham. They missed on Cunningham and immediately started evaluating Goodman and recruiting Allen. Goodman got away and they still want Allen. All of these players fit what Kruger is trying to build. There is no use waiting till next year if they can get a player like they want now.

The Walker deal doesn't have anything to do with Allen. Jelon left and Kruger needs a backup point guard.

I misread. Sorry. I'd say we are done. No idea who is left out there like Allen, Goodman, Cunningham quality...
