I am thinking no, but I hope he can. His personal, offensive game is great ... but he has nothing on the other side of the ball and he doesn't set up his teammates.

That said I'd like to see him in the NBA. He'll probably end up being an All-Star.

Curry isn't a good comparison IMO. Curry is so much faster than Jimmer.

Yes...

But not as a leading scorer...more of a Hoiberg type player when he was with the Bulls...or even Wally Sz---sizzurb....

Yes... in the right system I think he can become a real good player and 15+ PPG scorer. While he will be going up against obviously longer and better athletes in the NBA this kid can still shoot and is athletic enough to get his shot off from what I've seen. If he's put in the right system that gives him a little freedom I think he'll be fine.

The problem will be is he is small, not many teams will want their lead 2 guard to be a 6 2 guy unless he's long and really athletic. He's gonna have to learn to play combo like Steph, unless he's gonna be coming off the bench in a Ben Gordon role. Because of that I guess you can see him as a spot up shooter like Hoiberg.

Wally probably a different style player because of his height and position, but he was a consistent 15+ PPG scorer in his heyday.

Yes. Jimmer is better than Willie Warren and Willie is in the league, all be it at the end of the bench.

He will find a role...have to remember the NBA favors his types with the lack of handchecking and increased floor spacing. His height is the biggest deterrent IMO.

There are only 68 guys scoring 15+ in the NBA right now. There are 450 guys in the NBA. You are basically saying he is going to border on being an NBA All-Star with that type of production. I have no idea if he will or will not make it in the NBA but 15+ is huge.

yea, not ready to say he will score 15+ a game, specially since he will most likely come off the bench for a while...

But could be a very serviceable NBA guy....

(If Bryce Drew can make an NBA roster, this guy will)

While I don't think 15 PPG is a small feat for someone in the NBA I think you are stretching it by saying he would be on the border of producing as an All Star at that level. Only 24 guys make the roster every year, 1/3 of that number and I can probably guarantee nobody on this year's team will be at the 15 PPG unless they have very strong peripheral stats in another category (i.e. assists or rebounds).

I've seen guys who I thought were a lot less talented then Fredette average in that range for a couple seasons, of course those players are usually on bad teams.

Do I think it's more likely he ends up on the bench as a 3 point gunner ? Probably but in the right system where all he has to do is score I don't doubt he can probably do it. But with his other limitations (height, lack of clear position, defensive ability) I don't doubt he will need to be set up pretty well to succeed at that level.

Yes he is a better ballhandler then people give him credit for and he has a knack for creating seperating against anybody. He will be a pg in the NBA he can run a team he is asked to be a scorer for BYU. At the next level he wont be asked to do that.

The Coug-horns (BYU is the MWC's version of Texas, at least for a few more months) forgot to show up in the last 15 minutes of the game and lost to UNM at the Pit, 86-77. Fredette had 11 at the half and finished with 32. His high-scoring sidekick, Jackson Emery, was held to six.

Somewhere in Albuquerque, the Jimmer-loving writers are standing on a tall ledge, thinking about taking a dive.... (seriously, he's a great player, but the butt-love that rival players get in the print media here is nauseating).

Great players get press, it's how it works. UNM has played like crap the past few weeks, this was the first positive thing for them in a while...not like the writers had anything else to talk about.
