Does the Big 12 keep the tourney in Kansas City next year?

That is funny, I was at a luncheon with the Tulsa Mayor just a couple of weeks ago, and he all but guaranteed we'd be getting the Tournament again within 2-3 years.

And before you knock the attendance in Tulsa, you might want to watch some other games. Aside from the times when you have a very good local team playing very close to home, NONE of the games are completely full. I thought Tulsa represented pretty well. And Tulsa is doing a TON of stuff downtown right now, even without any sales tax monies. There are literally dozens of big projects going on right now. They are building a big park. Several apartment and condo projects. Two grocery stores are going in soon. And so on and so on. And I'm sorry, but this:

.....is a stupid comment. Tulsa's downtown might not be on par with OKC's, but they overlap by probably 50-75%. There isn't THAT much more you can do in downtown OKC than you can do in downtown Tulsa.

Thanks for calling me stupid, I appreciate it. Obviously YOU have not been to OKC in a long time. There is NO COMPARISON between the two. Tulsa has nothing downtown and is a ghost town after 5 p.m. You have your Tulsa glasses on - I am in both cities every week and am VERY up to date on the Truth of the matter. Next time you get a few hours to spare, drive to OKC and see what you don't know - OKC is miles and miles ahead of Tulsa. Tulsa's downtown might overlap 5% with OKC if we are lucky. Again, take your homer glasses off and actually drive down there and see what we don't have.
And I also forgot they have a Bass Pro Shop in Bricktown and the THUNDER - PRO SPORTS. They built a nice arena for 90 million and now are putting the finishing touches on another 130 million in improvements. They also are building a new Convention center. Have you seen the Devon Center (the tallest building in this area of the country - including all of Texas) - it ties in a park area/entertainment center with the Botanical Gardens. Brand new massive library there and totally redone Performing Arts Center.

Just sayin!!

Again, you obviously have NO CLUE to what you are talking about - I do!! I am in both cities each week - take a trip and figure it out.

Oh, and I watch ALL the basketball games. I was referring to OKC and how everytime they have NCAA games they sell it out - Everytime!!

I Love Tulsa, but reality is harsh sometimes

One other thing too, OKC has made a Beautiful river through downtown with a series of dams and three huge boat buildings built for rowing - it is now an Olympic training and qualifying site.

Tulsa's river is a sand bar half the time - No Vision.

Argueing the merits of Tulsa vs Oklahoma City is like argueing the merits of the current state of OSU vs OU basketball.

I didn't call you stupid, I called your comment stupid.

I'm not going to do some back and forth with you, b/c neither one of us will change the others' mind. And that is fine.

I spend plenty of time in OKC, and I have behind the scenes knowledge of what is going on in Tulsa. Fact is, depending on what you like, both cities have a lot to do. You listed a few things that OKC has. Great. Grand. But if the Bass Pro Shop and some tall building dedicated to office space is on your list of what makes OKC better, you need a new list.

Tulsa has the newer, better basketball arena. And we've gotten the better concerts since it was built.

Tulsa has the newer, better minor league ball park. It is WAY nicer than what OKC has.

Tulsa has a MUCH better performing arts community. That isn't my thing, but even I know that Tulsa is pretty well known for that stuff.

Tulsa has the historic Cain's Ballroom. OKC has nothing that compares to that.

And so on, and so on. I'm certainly not trying to take away from what OKC has, it is certainly nice, and it is currently tied together better than what Tulsa has. But Tulsa has a lot of those same pieces, and in some cases, additional pieces. Tying it together a little better in coming. It's a process. And adding additional living spaces will only speed that process along. I know you are blowing hot air when you say Tulsa is dead after 5pm. Two years ago, that might have been true. That certainly isn't true at this time though. There is PLENTY going on down there every night. The restaurants are busy. The bars are busy. The bowling place stays busy. Is it as busy as Bricktown? No. People live in Bricktown, nobody lives in downtown Tulsa yet. When those dwellings are finished in the coming months, the traffic will pick up even more. I've been down there during the week, and on weekends, and the traffic is more than adequate given the circumstances. And it's IMPROVING.

Another good gauge as to which city in general is doing better in the restaurant/entertainment business? Where the new restaurants go first. Tulsa get's just about everything months/years before OKC does. That isn't on accident.

A river? Yes. Beautiful? That's pushing it!

Let's just do it in Vegas...neutral site, everyone wins.

I like the way you think. Might as well bring UNLV into the Big 12 to tie it all in, and make it a permanent road game on the football schedule every year. Just kidding. Kinda.

You do realize that Tulsa has a Bass Pro Shops as well don't you? Well It's in Broken Arrow but still.

I didn't call you stupid, I called your comment stupid. Yeah right, LOL

OOOhhh - behind the scenes knowledge, I'm impressed, lol. I don't need behind the scenes knowledge - I can just drive around and look at the "scenes" of what is there to figure it out.

Baseball park? Are you kidding me - Tulsa's is about half the size of OKC's and was crammed into a little space. We went to a game there last year and you can't move around in the walk areas - way too tight - not a problem at the Brick as the space is very large. Also the Brick I believe has been rated one of the best AAA ballparks for all the years it has been built - not a AA park. The ONLY thing better about Tulsa's park is the view of downtown - OKC should have turned theirs the other way. No parking in Tulsa - The Brick has 3,000 spots in the garage next to it - and we did stay in the hotel that overlooks the Brick and watched a game from our room - Very cool. And again, 40+ restaurants right next to it.

NBA mags say that once the 130 million in improvements are done the Peake will be one of the top 10 arena's in the league - so you are saying Tulsa has that and no team to play in it? Hmmmmm.
Yes, Tulsa has gotten all the big acts that all the new arena's get - just like OKC got when their's opened. It all calms down after they come through the first time. Any of the "big acts" come back through Tulsa yet? They have in OKC.

Like I said, we love living in Tulsa BUT OKC is way ahead - we love both and have lived 28 years in OKC and 22 years in Tulsa so I believe I have a fairly good feel for both cities. OKC has about 1.2 million and Tulsa 800,000 so it is just a bigger city and has been MUCH better run over the last 20 years.
Susan Savage was a JOKE and all the others too. We still have terrible leadership - Tulsa needs someone who can actually bring groups together and lead them all in the same direction - that doesn't exist currently and hasn't in decades.

Remember, OKC has a couple of square miles of ENTERTAINMENT all together. Tulsa has a couple of little bitty baby things sprinkled around. Facts
