Don't know Who Will Win NC Game

Great game; horrible officiating.

I would agree, but WT gets so disappointed in me when I complain about officiating.

That Michigan block (who was it, Burke?) was a thing of beauty and couldn't have been cleaner. And the poor call really seemed to impact the momentum of the game.

I loved that Burke play. And I agree, it was definitely clean.

There were a couple of fouls in the second half where there was a foul but the officials called it on the wrong guy.

Sure seemed like they let them brawl it out. I saw some glimpses of Billy Ball but not enough.

They made sure the ND/UConn game last night was well officiated so you wonder why they didn't do the same here.

Burke's play was a clean block, but wasn't by any means the deciding factor.

158pts in a title game is a lot and the pace of play was great. Refs let some stuff go, no doubt, but they were consistent from start to finish and that's all coaches/players ever ask for. If they would have called it tight like a women's game there would have been 80 free throws, pace would have slowed to a crawl and everyone would have complained.

This was one of the better championship games in a long time.

But the officiating hasn't been as good as the competition.

It's the norm these days. As bad as it is in the regular season, it's considerably worse in postseason which in turn makes it more absurd that something which was a foul or turnover in the regular season is no longer that in the tourney! Dr. James Naismith has to be rolling over in his grave!

If they call it tight like they did in the 80s scoring goes up not down.

I feel bad for some of you. No more college basketball games to complain about the officiating for 7 months or so. Will you guys be okay?

Not so fast...there are still NBA playoffs and holding in college football to get them until next CBB season.

Probably not. 7 more months of therapy before I can complain about officiating again. :ez-laugh:

Seriously though, there were just a few calls missed in that game. But, you can't say that either team received unfair treatment. I thought that blown call on the Burke block was huge, but considering that Michigan was in the double bonus when they only had 4 fouls against them in the second half at one point makes it hard to argue that the refs screwed them out of a win. Overall, it felt, to me anyway, like one the best championship games we've seen in quite awhile. That first half especially was incredible.

The ability of college football fans to determine the validity of calls against their teams never ceases to amaze me, especially when it's something along the lines of a holding call on a backside lineman, as if that's where they were looking the whole time. The tens of thousands of fans capable of making that judgment from the stands on every play without the benefit of replay are officiating prodigies.

For the most part, the quality of officiating for the NBA and college basketball has dropped dramatically over the last 15-20 years.

Or maybe the rules changes and better athletes have made it tougher to officiate?

I can verify that. If you pay attention to various boards OU hasn't lost in 15 years it's just that the refs haven't been calling holding. And if it wasn't for Joey Crawford the Thunder would have won not one, not two.....:ed
