Douglass didn't lose a game last year and returns everyone. Sophomore guard Stevie Scooter Clark is one of the top players in the state and is ranked top 25 in the nation by ESPN.
Being the best team in Oklahoma is usually good enough for a national ranking in the mid-30s. However, the Douglass Trojans could prove to be a very strong exception to that way of thinking. The Trojans, who finished ranked No. 62 in the RivalsHigh 100 in 2009-10, are very reminiscent of last year’s national champion, Houston (Texas) Yates. Douglass returns all five starters from a team that was the best in its state despite not being in its highest classification. The Trojans like to score a lot of points and put the ball on the floor. It is very unlikely that many teams in Oklahoma - or the rest of the country for that matter - will be able to keep up with this team in 2010-11.
Wichita Heights is 8th (Perry Ellis), Dematha is 14th (Jerami Grant).

They will be here next month in Dallas. They'll be playing Richardson Berkner on Friday afternoon following Thanksgiving, and Flower Mound Marcus on Saturday evening. Will be fun!

Even better story if any of the kids were actually supposed to go there. There might be 1, but most are supposed to be elsewhere.

I cant wait for that tourney, going to be a great thanksgiving weekend.

Also Daze are you going to be at the Metroplex back to school deal tomorrow at the Bob Knight in Duncanville?

I'm thinking about heading down for it...

Which kids aren't supposed to be there? I know that Divonte Smith transferred in from the Westmoore district but I'm pretty sure it was legitimate. The Douglass district is much, much bigger than people realize.

They have guards for days. They have some other young guards that will step up. Smith is good, but a little small. He's quick as hell. Stevie should step up and run the point now. Stevie has a ways to go to be a good point guard, but this should help him develop. I expect for him to struggle early.

Smith is really quick but he has a really weak left hand as well and can get out of control. If Clark grows he could be a great prospect. I just can't see him being an OU level recruit at 5'10 but he's really young so who knows. So much happens with kids between 9-12th grade that a lot of kids catch up.

The Twins are good athletes but they're knuckle heads, probably more NAIA level players. I think Dorrian Williams is a stud and will be a great college player at the mid-major level.

Sorry, got this late. No, I wasn't there. On campus at SMU today - previous engagement. Prestonwood was the only high level team entered though. Did you end up making it down, Sam?

He has offers from Marquette and Iowa already. OU and OSU will offer very soon. KU will offer as well. The twins have offers from ORU, Tulsa, and SFU. Williams already has committed to Missouri State.

The twins and one other player are supposed to be at Carl Albert. Stevie is supposed to be at another school in the OKC district, but his is alright because there is an open-transfer in the OKCPS policy that allow that.

I haven't heard anything with Clark concerning KU. I follow their recruiting pretty closely. Not saying it won't happen but I haven't heard anything. I wouldn't be shocked that he had offers like Marquette and ISU, I just think he has a bit to prove before getting offers from OU or OSU.

I would highly doubt the twins have offers from Tulsa. There is no way in heck they would qualify there. They have JUCO written all over them. I don't even know if they could play at ORU, I definitely know with their attitude they likely won't last long anywhere.

I think Missouri State got a steal in Williams.

I know for a fact that Stevie is getting big interest from KU. OU would be fortunate to land him. They'll eventually offer. This kid poured in 40pts on 9-12 from the 3pt line this summer in the national tournament in front of Self, Tubby Smith, and Steve Wojo. I can tell you his close friend Darnell Jackson wants to see him at KU. I want to see him at OU. As for the Jenkins twins, it only takes a little research to know they have an offer from ORU.

Know for a fact that SFA wants both of them as well and the staff is talking to them about signing with SFA. I watch alot of basketball, but not as much as the guys who get paid for it. Those guys must see something to put their necks on the line to offer scholarships to those kids. Both of them are very athletic.

Yeah, they are both athletic, Romond more than Ramond (at least I think that's right! :) ). I could see SFA taking chance on one or both of them. I just personally think they're headcases and most people at the school agree, everyone was shocked that they were eligible last year. Hopefully they have turned the corner because they definitely have huge talent.

I probably need to see Clark again because it sounds like he's just getting better. Again, I saw him with Douglass which means he didn't do much other than shoot because Smith dominates the ball quite a bit. He can definitely shoot the ball.

I'm just saying it's weird that I haven't heard peep on Phog about KU having major interest in an OK kid. Everything I hear about Clark says that he's a great kid so I hope he is getting big interest. His little brother is supposed to be a pretty nice player as well.

I guess I also forget sometimes how much times have changed. When I was in HS a lot of these guys wouldn't be getting a sniff at the D-1 level.

I made it down. Cedar Hill and Christian Life had some talent but Prestonwood was by far the best team there. I don't know if it was just the atmosphere but Randle seemed passive at times. Playing like a point forward preferring to float on the wings and drive while Peters was banging down low.

I hope the attention doesn't start getting to him. It definetely seems to be getting to Nash.

Julius has been disinterested most of the games I've seen him play lately. Only when there's a "cause", does he play for real.

I watched Berkner basically manhandle Prestonwood for the first 3/4 of that game a couple of weeks ago at the GASO. Then, Julius got serious and Prestonwood ended up winning in OT. He came out the same way against FM Marcus. Then, once Marcus Smart ate his lunch a couple of times on the perimeter, he switched gears, and the light bulb came on. Ended up being a back and forth between the two of them before FM Marcus held on to win the game by 5 or so in the end.

As an example, Marcus Smart took the ball baseline on one play in the second half of that game, and took the ball straight to Julius' mouth, trying to dunk on him off two feet. The dunk didn't go down, but it illustrates the kind of environment that seemingly needs to be present for Julius to really engage at this point in his development.

Honestly, I don't see this as a mark or indication of his true basketball character. More, I see it as an immature reaction to not being pushed in competition enough. He's so far and above 80% of his competition, he hasn't learned to find motivation from within to continue driving forward in an effort to galvanize himself for the competition he will ultimately see on a consistent basis down the road.

There are so few players that can "compete" with him in a mano-a-mano situation in the HS ranks, that he can rely on half-effort and still beat guys with whatever their weaknesses are. He'll take someone his size outside, and toy with them like a cat plays with a mouse; or he'll take someone more adept at playing a perimeter game inside, and abuse them with deep position and a series of post moves.

When he does run up against someone like Marcus who can do both well, he gets engaged pretty quickly and pretty consistently. Remember, he's still only 15 and he doesn't turn 16 until November. I'm sure these concepts will develop to a greater extent as time goes by.

Bottom line is I've never seen him shrink or be apathetic when there's a challenge or a stage he deems worthy - NEVER.
