Durant

Golden State has traded Bogut and Barnes to The Mavs to free cap space to sign Durant. Barnes' exit frees the small forward position, and Durant slides into his spot on the roster. How is that not a fit?

Never seen anybody that ignores the facts more than Nick. Durant had said numerous times this decision wasn't about the money. And staying in OKC when Westbrook has one foot out the door would have been stupid. It came down to GS and Boston.

it wouldn't have been stupid. They would have won the title if he came back b/c horford would have come as well. Nobody is beating a team with RW, VO, KD, Horford, and Adams. Nobody. He could have brought a title to OKC. Instead he decided to join the enemy. There is a reason the old vets are calling him weak and making fun of him.

And it's pretty interesting how buddy buddy he was with the warriors during the playoff series. add in that the warriors were openly recruiting him during the season and it makes you wonder...

They were. And I bet the gap between GS and Boston was narrower than the gap between Boston and OKC. I can tell from your comments that you did very little to follow Durant's FA. If you had, you'd know that a) he was almost certainly leaving OKC, and b) he was looking for a team that was well coached, well put together, and could compete for championships, GOING FORWARD. Durant LOVED Boston. We just weren't as sure a thing as GS. Dude wasn't going back to OKC this year though.

L.O.L.

He was almost certainly leaving OKC? How the hell would you know that? 90% of people thought he was staying. He gave no indication he was leaving.

Its funny how you spout this crap after the decision.

Going forward (outside of this next year) how is GS going to compete for championships? They won't be able to afford that roster

I'm wondering if they shouldn't have held onto Ibaka? I'm not a huge Ibaka fan, but I wonder if in a lineup without KD, if he could have done more. Olidipo(sp) is a solid player, but he isn't a strong offensive guy. Going to be interesting to see where the offense comes from this year outside of Westy and Adams.

wow man

How is this a bad fit? This isn't close to Howard deal & the Lakers were going to be bad with no hype before Howard signed.

bad fit b/c he can't run GS's offense. He is too lazy won't move the ball. Plus GS will be a terrible defensive team.

They more than likely will win it this next year of offense alone, but after that, I don't expect much.

So a 6'10 all around scoring machine who is a bad fit? He will move the ball bc he's kicking it out to Curry & Thompson not Foye & Roberson. Also GS preaches ball movement and all their guys have bought in. Durant is a better defender than Barnes and GS was a really good defensive team last year.

Horford was never going to OKC. Who was OKC going to get rid of to afford Horford, Westbrook, and KD?

The only people I saw that thought he was for sure staying in OKC were Thunder fans. You said it yourself earlier in this thread, there was A LOT of talk to Durant to GS even during the season. Talk of a basketball decision. Not having a 2nd meeting set up with OKC to begin with. OKC not bringing players to their meeting with KD.

KD doesn't like Westbrook. They don't get along. Everybody but Thunder fans already knows that. And everybody but Thunder fans have known for a while that Westbrook is almost certainly leaving after next year, and probably is headed to LA. None of this is new, or shocking, to most non-Thunder NBA fans. If Durant knows Westbrook is leaving, why on earth would he stick around? OKC will always struggle attracting high-end NBA talent via free agency. Heck, Boston struggles with that.

I'm sorry that you've been in your little Thunder-bubble, but none of this is new or shocking. I've been making comments that I thought he was gone for a while now. I posted this thread before he announced.

They will be able to afford that roster for more than just next year. Green and Thompson are signed to favorable contracts for 4 and 3 years, respectively. Steph seems like a guy that might sign a team friendly deal. Or one that is front loaded so he gets paid before Green/Thompson need to get paid. Durant's contract is only 2 years, so there is flexibility there. If you don't think GS has the money part figured out, I don't know what to tell you.

Horford was never going to OKC. Who was OKC going to get rid of to afford Horford, Westbrook, and KD?

Kanter & Morrow. Horford said he didn't choose okc bc he couldn't get assurances from KD & Westbrook that they'd stay long term.

Yes he was. It's out there. If durant had committed to long term, Horford was coming.

It would have been a lot easier to clear space than what Golden state is going to have to do

Sorry, I didn't read the rest of your post b/c this is a flat out lie.

Literally 90-95% of analyst, teams, fans, etc thought he would sign a two year deal with OKC and go through this whole process again next year with KD and westbrook.

Not even sure why i'm responding to a post that is a complete joke

Those people are idiots, b/c Durant said he did not like the FA process, and only wanted to go through it once. ie, he wasn't going to sign with OKC for 2 years with a player option, then leave next year when Westbrook left.

I realize he signed a short contract with GS, but I think that is just semantics, and I expect him to be there longer than 2 years.

Not everything floated out in the media is true. And sometimes, the info is kind of true, but you have to apply some logic/perspective to it. ie, the Horford deal. Sure, if KD AND Westbrook were going to commit long-term to the Thunder, he might have considered them. But guess what? Westbrook was NEVER going to do that, so like I said, he was never going to OKC.

Believe what you want. I followed this closer than most, yes, even Thunder fans, b/c Boston was so involved, and it was known Boston would be going after him for the better part of 2-2.5 years now.

haha ok man. Yes, the entire media, fans, coaches, and players are all idiots.

As a Mavs fan, this trade excites me about as much as a trip to the colon doctor. Another 44 win season and #7 seed in the West (at best) is in store....I cant wait!:facepalm:mad:
