Very few teams have won a BCS bowl and advanced to the Final 4 in basketball and the new Big XII is not only stable but arguably the best overall athletic conference.

When combining football and basketball, I don't think it's up for debate that OU has been the best conference.

SEC--Elite in football, hasn't been elite in basketball since the early 2000's.

ACC and Big East--Elite in basketball. Football, yeah right.

They've been substantially better than the Big 10 in football, and have outperformed them in basketball as far as tourney results are concerned. And the Pac 10 hasn't been on the Big 12's level in basketball.

It's pathetic that the Big 12 has had so much turmoil, considering how good of a product they've displayed on the field/court. Blame it on the top-level conference admins and lack of foresight by university representatives, but collectively they've been the best athletic conference for football and basketball for quite some time.

The Big Ten is actually pretty strong in both sports too. Since I was in college (1985) Illinois, Ohio State, Michigan, Indiana, and Michigan State have all been to the final four and I could be missing some teams. I am also positive that Wisconsin, Iowa, and Purdue have all been to the Sweet 16 druing those 25 years if not further.

I am pretty sure OSU is going to go to a BCS bowl this season. I suspect they will win it too. The one caveat I have is I don't think OSU can beat OU and Alabama/LSU in consecutive games because I think they have the worst defense of all four teams. I also think they probably have the best offense.
