Kruger:
Quote I'd never expect to pass along from Lon Kruger: "We’ve got to reevaluate things offensively, primarily." (post-Wiscy)

Good to see. Will have some time to make the changes before Friday's game at the LNC vs Mizzou.

This could mean so many diff things... I hope it means running the offense more through Spangs and Tae Thomas.

I think you'll see a ton of simple post entry plays for the bigs, as well as some high post plays with the guards.

Id never seriously second guess Kruger but I have been hoping to see them utilize the bigs more.....particularly Thomas. We are good but could be exceptional if we find a way to incorporate them a little more.

Looks like we all want the same thing. Get our bigs more involved in the offense.

Let's hope that's what Lon plans to do!

The offense needs to run through Thomas in the post and Buddy and Cousins on the perimeter. Easy fixes. Don't turn it over, inside out it, make open shots. No biggie. We're really close.

Thomas spends too much time on the perimeter. Not sure if that is by design, but be needs to get the ball on the block and go to work.

Would they dare start Walker over Woodard and have Bennett start w/Spangler coming off the bench?

Are you serious?? DJ will NEVER start over Spangler. And I doubt they would pull Jordan and replace him with Walker after only 6 games. Having said that, Jordan needs to quit turning the effin ball over as much as he does. A lot of them are UNFORCED errors! The TO's today killed us. Sometimes I feel we pass the ball around too damn much and give up some decent shots, only to turn it over and not give yourself a chance to put points on the board. Very frustrating.

They need to get Thomas more touches, but it's not like he has a great post up game. Every movement is to the left shoulder for a right hook. There were multiple times the past few days he had an easy Lay up with the left if he just drop stepped to the right and sealed.

Look for OU to use some high-low action similar to what Kansas used to do. With Spangler''s ability to shoot and draw attention on the up fake, forces a defender away from the basket and allows Thomas more room to work...especially to turn to the right.

I really like our guards but not enamored with the guard play. They obviously need to stop chucking so much.

With all of that said, Wisconsin is real good. They played all most a whole half without the Big 10 POY and managed to hang around. Very deep and well coached team

The best half we played in the tournament was the first half against Butler when we got Thomas and Spangler involved early.

While he tends to foul more, DJ seems to be more of a defensive presence than Spangler. Also, Spangler will give up the ball on the low block if he has one defender on him unlike DJ who will take on a defender in the process of taking the ball to the basket. Spangler will take shots away from the basket if left wide open but in the game against Wisconsin, where he had space to shoot, he would defer and aptly pass the ball as opposed to taking a decently open shot time after time. And having a big that far away from the basket when he's just a conduit to pass the ball accomplishes very little. Besides being a hard nose rebounder, I am not sure why everyone is just so taken in by his basketball skills.

I guess he has fooled everyone except you. One of the sillier posts I've ever read.

Over the course of the past two games, Spangler played 63 minutes and came away with 9 points, 16 rebounds and 5 turnovers, while in 28 minutes played, Bennett scored 11 points had 8 rebounds and had 1 turnover. It's only two games but the statistical comparison does not favor Spangler. Do the numbers lie?

Spangler has no inside game. None! Not sure what it is that makes you see things differently. Again, Spangler refuses to attack the basket when a single defender is present. Either this is a valid point or you have proof to the contrary. The only time he shoots the ball from close within is either on a put back or in transition.

It seems there has been a call as of late to have Walker start or at least garner more minutes. Now either this change in perception occurred from watching Walker play his first couple of games in a Sooner uniform or it comes from his play in the last two games as a Sooner. If this is so then it should not just apply to Mr. Walker.

Spangler would start on every team in the big 12 besides Texas (size wins out there) not because of what you see on the stat sheet but because of what you don't see on the stat sheet. Screen setter, passer, good shooter, good hands, GREAT one on one post defender, plays team defense every time down the court, can run in transition, facilitates the offense, leads with energy and heart and hustle. He's the most important player on the floor for us...

2 games! You said it yourself. In this case, yes the numbers are fooling you. ALL the evidence except the 2 games you mentioned (well over 30 games) says Spangler is the far better option. They will make adjustments but I seriously doubt there will be any lineup changes. There is no way the one you suggest will happen because it is ridiculous. 2 games! Please be serious.

Supposedly the coach is not happy with how things are going on the offensive side thus it implies there are changes to be made. Now either the changes to be effected are of the X's and O's variety or it is player personnel. All I'm saying is that perhaps DJ should be given more opportunities to show whether the past two games are a fluke or a sign of things to come and nothing else.
