Every game OU plays Capel becomes more of a joke..

bottom line is the guy could not coach. I don't like Capel and whoever gives him his next HC is asking for a disaster.

The football board could probably use your in depth analysis on why we are losing players, and why all of the coaches need to be fired/executed.

We have moved forward with LK over here, and Capel rants have become so unmoving..... Everyone has pretty much acknowledged we are in a better place as a program, and everyone pretty much has decided to just enjoy it and let old dogs lie..... join us please.

Sorry Jeff, you are great!!! I mean Lon winning and playing D is luck. Good luck this year at Duke!!

Look Bad? Really, that is so weak it's funny. Not trying to look any particular was, he talks crap on our program and I look bad pointing out the obvious, he sucks as a HC.
 
I liked Jeff as a person here. He seemed a good fit at the time. It's more obvious he just wasn't that good a coach. I almost feel sorry for the guy even though he deserves it for what he put out there.

You might pm Jerry and BOB. They will surely share your in depth opinions of the current team and ex coach. The rest of us would like to enjoy OUr program, with LK as the coach.......:OUbball-logo:
 
Yeah, that is what I post. Lon is getting much more from this team. That is coaching but I did not know saying the name Capel got everyones panties in a bunch. Saying Lon can coach=Capel cant coach.

Ok, thanks.... anything else to add on OUr great victory tonight, or did you just log in to bash a former coach??? I see you only had 4 posts prior to you starting this thread, so is this what we can expect, or were you just overwhelmed with Capel flashbacks, 10 games into the season or so?????:facepalm:facepalm
 
I'm not sure Capel ever had control over his teams and even in the Blake years they were pretty much up and down.

This year we are not a great team but seem to becoming a good team. The Conference teams will tell the tale. I felt we still had a chance when we were down tonight but Capel's teams usually got swamped when they fell 9-10 points behind.

The defense on Houstons last few posessions was awesome.
 
I think Jeff new the game Xs and Os wise. I think he failed because of his relationships with his players and people in this part of the country. I think his lack of experince of motivating and knowing what buttons to push to build confidence was something that hurt him.

So you go by post count. OK, I will give up my life and tell the wife and kids no more fun because I need to get my post up to get my "street cred" from the OU Hoops board. Sorry but Lon winning is gonna be compared, some said "the other coach" should have got another year. My point is this team plays harder and bought into LK system. Every game makes it more obvious.

I will try yo be more Politically Correct on here and get my post count up.

So if Lon joined board today and posted an opinion you would tell him he does not have the post count to be worthy.

Actually you missed my point Embalmer. I couldn't care less about your post count, or anyone else's for that matter. I was simply wondering, with your low amount of activity on the board, if you only logged in to jump Capel. The reason I asked, is because this thread has been reposted at least 10000000000000 times since the end of last season, and most people have expressed their opinion on the entire issue at least 1000000000 times.

I would challenge you to find one post where someone is still saying JC should still be coaching this team. Even the biggest JC supporters have acknowledged we are in a better place, and OUr new coach has done a great job of reinventing the program.

To just jump in with a JC attack, after a big win just comes off as immature/preconceived.

Anyway, I'm done. Enjoy yourself on the board. Hope you post more often!!! We need more Sooner fans to supply different perspectives/outlooks on the hoops board. Have a great evening, BOOMER!!!!
 
Capel brought the Duke system and that only works when you have the athletes to perform it. When Capel had Blake, we were battle tested and solid. Without an all-american, Capel struggled to adjust the system. That is no knock on him. We just couldn't get the right players with good character after Blake.
 
THis post is absolutely pathetic. The fact is, Lon is winning with basically all Capel's players. SO to say Capel is a terrible coach is a weak comment since half of coaching is bringing in players who have talent.

Is Kreuger a better coach?? Absolutely. But to say Jeff stinks at this point is a) pointless to talk about and B) pointless...in that who knows how Jeff would have done with this same group of players. If Capel wasn't fired, he would have very likely got Grooms as well and would have had Groff instead of Arent...which I think would be a better situation. Arent hasn't impressed me at all.

Gotdewwb made a great point in the game. He said something to the effect of there wasn't any spark with OU b-ball due to the TIny and TMG situation backfiring. Most anyone would have taken that recruiting class..and add in Willie Warren who was fantastic his freshaman year and you think that OU had a great chance to keep a Final 8 season momentum going. Well, it didn't happen and A LOT of cleansing had to be done. Very difficult situation for any coach. Not sure many coaches could have won a ton of games with all the late turnover we had. Turns out, Capel did a decent job of filling a roster with players who can win if they are coached correctly and put in the right situations...but it's a very fine line. We could easily lose 3 games very early in conference play...so does Lon look as such of a savior still if do??

Absolutely true. The truth is Capel was average without Duke-type talent. There is tons of hope that Kruger can win without elite talent. We won't know until we get into conference play, but the optimist in me thinks that we have made some improvement.
 
Capel is no Kruger. There's no question about that. But taking a team to an Elite Eight should remove you from joke status, IMHO.
