Evidence thin Capel can maintain top-level program >> The Oklahoman

Re: Evidence thin Capel can maintain top-level program >> The Oklahoman

a coach on this level is paid a lot of money and asked to do four things: Win ballgames, fill the seats, graduate as many players as possible and keep ncaa investigators as far from campus as possible.

Capel is 0-for-4.

Ouch!

Re: Evidence thin Capel can maintain top-level program >> The Oklahoman

* The NCAA investigation into alleged payments to ex-Sooner Tiny Gallon continues. Former OU assistant Oronde Taliaferro exchanged 66 calls or texts with a Tampa, Fla., man who reportedly wired $3,000 into Gallon's bank account.

Some on campus say nothing is coming of the investigation. Others on campus say sanctions are a certainty.

Ugh.

If they learn to do things the right way, I'm confident.

Yep, its all their fault Jeff.

Re: Evidence thin Capel can maintain top-level program >> The Oklahoman

How can Capel get any recruits here with Oklahoman printing this crap!

Like any of his recruits really read a paper from Oklahoma. He's only gotten like 4 recruits from this state in 5 years.

I wish I could disagree with that article. But it's pretty tough to argue with any of it. I don't think we'll get in trouble for the Tiny Gallon thing. But it's tough to argue that something didn't happen there.

The Oklahoman is not an extension of the University of Oklahoma marketing department. They are under no obligation to print fawning articles regardless of the circumstances. Nor should they.

OSU fans will probably tell you different since Gaylord basically ran the paper for 70 years. And is being run by a Gaylord now and they have their associations with OU.

Re: Evidence thin Capel can maintain top-level program >> The Oklahoman

If you listen to OSU fans every single publication in the state of Oklahoma is embroiled in a conspiracy to keep OSU down by slanting their coverage toward OU.

Re: Evidence thin Capel can maintain top-level program >> The Oklahoman

The OU-Tech game was one of the worst Big 12 games I've ever seen in terms of team quality.

The poor suckers who paid money to watch that pathetic display of basketball the other night should call the athletic department and demand their money back.

Lloyd Noble Center has been half full, at best, for most games, though considering the product, you have to salute Sooner fans. The question is not, where is everyone? The question is, why are you here?

I can't argue with much in that article.

I read Tramel's blog every day, and I can count on one hand the number of blog entries he's had mentioning OU basketball. I think he's tried to avoid the subject but now that football season is over he has no choice.

I've thought it strange not more of the press is placing heat on him, but maybe now the dam is broken. I wonder when Sittler's article will hit the presses, because we all know he's got one coming soon.

Tramel is by far the best writer at the DO. The only way Capel stays is his contract and the AD hired him. The job is over his head and he has destroyed a very good program. Take your lumps Joe and move on.

Jeff will have through next year. Then we'll see.

He loses most of the good ones he gets anyway.

I agree...and if he does change things around next year...your looking at the whole starting 5 returning the year after.

Re: Evidence thin Capel can maintain top-level program >> The Oklahoman

How the hell can you predict that under Capel? We could have players not make the grade, players quit suddenly, players go to the pros for no reason. You name it, it's happened under Capel. With the history Capel has big roster changes are the norm.

Capel has become John Blake coaching basketball.

Capel has become John Blake coaching basketball.

Capel made it to the Elite Eight.

Blake never even coached a bowl game.

Pull your head out of your ass.
