Explain your Handle

I went to Texas A&M and would frequent their baseball games. Back when I was there they played SHSU every year and I would often sit in the section that picks something about an opposing player and rags on them relentlessly. Well, there was one particular Bearcat pitcher that was like 6-7 and probably like 170,180 maybe. Rail-thin. Everyone was calling him Stickboy. So that night after the game when we were at the sports bar playing trivia I tried to use my usual nickname, which was JDog. That was taken so I used JDHogg, being a former Dukes fan. Days later I guess someone else in the bar that night thought it was funny, so that was taken. Stickboy popped into my mind from the previous game, but was too long. So, I took the c off and arrived at Stikboy. So, i've used that on many OU boards. That was after I used "READ" for a long time because I would post from the Read building beneath Kyle field while typing papers as a student..

I was born a year before Wayman Tisdale, so I obviously followed his career very closely...went to see him play when OU visited the Carrier Dome in Syracuse back in '84 (33 for the Big Guy)...also went to see him play in the NBA few times. I'm not sure there has been an OU athlete in any sport who has meant more to the development of their sport's program than Wayman has for OU Men's Basketball...and you never heard anything negative about him off the court, either...great person to be a fan of.

My two daughters play volleyball. Oldest is three time first team AA in division 3. Youngest is trying to decide where to play in college. I'm very worried it will be the Naval Academy.

I designed the new Guggenheim addition. Really didn't take that long either.

It's the name of a penguin from a kids book. I thought it was a funny name and unique.

When Al Gore invented the internet I lived in Denver. I actually likely still lived in Norman was the internet came to fruition but I lived in Denver when it became mainstream. I just think it is funny to say Al Gore invented the internet.

I have used DenverSooner since about 1998. Odds are if you see a DenverSooner on any OU message board it is me. I left Denver in 2003 but didn't want to change my name.

SoonerTimes, SoonerFriends, SoonerFamly, OUHomer, OUinsider, the secret board (what ever happened to that? I no longer have the link) etc. were all me. Many of you have been my faceless friends for well over a decade and approaching two decades.

I have fond memories of the OUHomer board. That was a really good source of information about OU basketball.

Years back, I had a dog named Spencer. He was a Golden Retriever and a great dog. Unfortunately, he was scared to death of thunderstorms and would run and hide....hence the name.:D

So it's slow and the offseason.

Explain to the board what your handle/username means or why you selected it (no matter how lame or self explainatory it may be)

Mine: After graduating from college my old man and I took a trip to several Southern African countries where we befriended a guide who had to put up with us for a week in the bush. He was really a wonderful guide and a funny man. He wanted to know an American phrase that he hadn't heard before so I taught him to say "that's big time" whenever we saw something cool or rare on Safari. He would say it in a real deep voice "beeeeeeeeg Tiiiiiime". After returning from the trip, I was coaxed out of the world of read-only messageboarding by one SoonerfanTU and went with BigTime!

How about yourself....

And I always assumed it was a "Big Time" Jones reference. Or "Bedtime" as he was later referred too.
